Pronounciation[edit]

How do you say "Gaudens"? gawdins? go-dan's? Something else? 76.247.47.141 16:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also a bit curious as to this - any ideas? Connormah (talk) 03:30, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
When I have heard it pronounced, it is the first way. Not sure if that is correct though. Have you checked the sculptor's article?--Wehwalt (talk) 09:50, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Citeless weasel words...[edit]

...In the first paragraph, of a featured article? "It is considered by many the most beautiful of U.S. coins."  ?? TJSwoboda (talk) 04:34, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's referenced further down in the article. (Yeoman, p. 270) - Snarkibartfast (talk) 10:41, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, see WP:LEAD. Statements in the lede are not to be cited if the fact is repeated and cited in the body of the article.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:44, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, okay. Sorry to come off half-cocked. TJSwoboda (talk) 17:18, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Common confusion.--Wehwalt (talk) 17:28, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge (?)[edit]

Hello, I'm Burmiester, a beaurocrat with the Numismatics project. I'd like to raise the discussion on why there is a motion to merge this page into another article.

This is wrong.

It's plain as day to see that this article is well developed and lengthy enough to avoid a merging. Get back to me with responses, please. (Burmiester (talk) 15:28, 11 September 2013 (UTC))[reply]

What other article? We have well-developed articles on both the Liberty Head (Coronet) and Saint-Gaudens double eagles, this is in fact a featured article. There is no need for a merge.--Wehwalt (talk) 15:38, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see, it's on the WP:NUMIS tasks you can do. That should probably be removed, it has been sitting here for years very likely. I worked on this article three or four years ago. It is probably from before that, when we had a very shoddy article on this and possibly a better one on double eagle and no doubt a merge was thought of, but now we have strong articles for the two types of double eagles.--Wehwalt (talk) 21:53, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Now a FA in Chinese Wikipedia[edit]

I have translated this article to Chinese Wikipedia here and promoted to FA status, and I want to thank User:Wehwalt for his effort to write this amazing article. --Jarodalien (talk) 08:28, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your efforts! After spending that time in China last fall and barely learning a word, I know how great a feat it is!--Wehwalt (talk) 06:00, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
