Untitled
[edit]One way to improve film articles of this type is to avoid using promotional phrases like "the true story of", which instantly destroy neutrality and only mimic advertising copy for the product. 24.90.17.134 04:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Silkwood imp.jpg
[edit]Image:Silkwood imp.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Spoiler warning?
[edit]This article immediately ruins the story for anybody who has not heard it. Does anybody object to a spoiler warning?
It's a real story about a real woman who lost her life in a real cause. If you were watching a WW2 movie, would you consider it a spoiler if someone whispered in your ear -- "Psst -- the Germans lost!"?Cross Reference (talk) 04:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Karen Silkwood was an actual person.

cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarettes
[edit]What's the deal with the depiction of thousands of cigarettes lighting up in the movie? Maybe not literally thousands, but I think in every other scene there is a cigarette involved. You almost get lung cancer just from watching it! Even if it would have added to the plot (it didn't), it's too excessive. After the sixth on-screen cigarette you understand they are smoking like hell, no need to light up another dozen in front of the camera. - The film was made 35 years ago in 1983 and is set in the late 1970s, and, speaking as a non-smoker who was there, that is the way the world was at that time. (Cough! Cough!) Blurryman (talk) 17:38, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
Plot extremely subpar and uneven
[edit]The plot summary of this movie does not follow the narrative structure of the movie in any way. It does not follow characters, timelines, or really any sort of gist of the movie at all. It can better be described as a lengthened synopsis, which is subpar to plot summaries regularly found on Wikipedia. 70.164.36.143 (talk) 03:11, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
