Historic Fleet Table

I am seeking feedback from other editors before I make this change to the historic fleet table.

This is a sample of what I have done. I will tweak it to differentiate between the subfleets. Planenut(Talk) 03:13, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Hmm nice, but I am wondering which criteria are you using when deciding which entry appears in which layer? Will an additional column to the left help?--Huaiwei (talk) 01:01, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

I did consider adding a left hand column but it will makes things even more messy. I will just mix and match in ascending order by variant and manufacturer. The year in service for some of the aircraft need confirmation as well. I only know the DC10s entered service around '79 but the table shows '77 as well. Is there a reference point for the EIS for the DC10? Planenut(Talk) 09:13, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Never, ever add any sort of Historic fleet timeline. I hate these because they look ugly, are hard for editors to understand, and therefore are hard to update. Just do a plain old table. —Compdude123 03:55, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
    • Yes, please use a plain table, the timeline/table layout is a mess for screen readers. Frietjes (talk) 16:24, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Reverted the addition of the fleet timeline, and I told the user he should discuss it here before adding it again. So, User:ANG99 please get consensus before adding the timeline again. If you can come up with a better timeline format that is easier to read and edit, I'd love it. —Compdude123 21:52, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

Planes used

Could you please tell me why you don't use A380 plane on routes from Manchester Uk to Singapore — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.239.244.58 (talk) 16:34, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

I am sorry but this encyclopedia article is part of Wikipedia and nothing to do with Singapore Airlines, you may try contacting them at http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/contact-us/ , thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 18:04, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Boeing 777-200/ER

On the CAAS page, it considers 9V-SRN and 9V-SQI as Boeing 777-200ER, but Singapore Airlines will consider it as Boeing 777-200 since it has de-rated engines, so should we change the numbers of the aircraft of the 2 variants respectively(since on the page it counts 9V-SRN and 9V-SQI as -200ER, accarding to the number of the aircraft)? Should we change the -200 to -200ER since it is actually the -200ER with different engines, which we can state in the Notes. Maodi xn (talk) 12:02, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

They are both -200 the type certificate makes no mention of a separate "ER" variant so officially they are both 777-212s. The 200s (and 300s) are suitable for the 180-minute extended range operations and fitted with certain engines combinations can be "suitable for greater than 180-minute ETOPS operations when operated and maintained in accordance with Boeing Document..." but it still doesnt make them officially 200ERs. I have just added archive links to one external link on Singapore Airlines fleet. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Images.

Is it ok to add images of the aircrafts? Triila73 (talk) 06:05, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

Triila73Yes. Make sure that the images are either fair-use, in the public domain, or your own images. Mgasparin (talk) 03:34, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

Separate Passenger and Cargo fleet

YSSYguy I separated the passengers and cargo fleet into two subsections of the table, I thought this would improve clarity but you have reverted it back. Any particular reason not to have subsections? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frausflyer (talkcontribs) 18:28, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

A question to user YSSYguy

As the title of this section suggests, this question is to YSSYguy.

One of my recent edits on this page was changing the "To Be Announced" abbreviation to "To be announced", because (as I explained in the description of my edits), I don't see a reason for "be" and "announced" to be capitalised - it's not at the beginning of the phrase, it's not a title or a proper noun. You recently reverted those edits without explaining it. Why is that?

Another one of my recent edits was merging the notes for the Boeing 777-200, -200ER, and -300 from three separate ones into one for all three variants. You also reverted that edit twice, I think. I'm also confused by this - don't you think that it makes more sense to have one note for all three of these variants instead of three separate notes when each note says the same thing?

Thanks in advance. EnjoyingMyProblems (talk) 18:05, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

737 Fleet Information

Hello,

Someone keeps removing the information from the fleet table regarding the incoming 737's without explanation. I cannot see an issue here. The information is sourced. Some of them are used aircraft but incoming used aircraft are listed on other airlines fleet tables.

Thanks

Boeing 777-200 Fleet

I have removed the 777-200 and 777-200ER from the fleet list.

This source says they will be retired 20th April 2020: https://simpleflying.com/singapore-airlines-777-200er-retirements/

They have also removed from the website: https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/au/flying-withus/our-story/our-fleet/

Thanks --JetBlast (talk) 06:49, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

I’ve gone ahead and requested page protection for this page, because of the persistent content removal by random IP addresses. SurferSquall (talk) 19:29, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
