The Agency (Computer Game)? It isn't specifically for the computer, it's for the Playstation 3, so the epithet of Computer Game seems illogical and confusing. Perhaps (Video Game) would be more appropriate.

Should be The Agency (MMO). Video game is generally used to refer to console games. 65.10.15.202 18:07, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I started the page I just slapped on a modifier since I didn't want it getting confused with other pages (plus I read about it in PC Gamer, so I figured it would make sense), but I'm liking MMO, as it's not exclusive like the original "computer game" and it doesn't connote something else like "video game" (which suggests console exclusivity in my mind). Added a screenshot to the page, and a section about the class system, which was loosely derived from the information at [1]. I'm not sure, however if I can use that as citation. I know it's been a topic on one of the videos as well, however I'd have to watch them all to find which one that was... SG 01 (talk) 16:29, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I played this game at the 2008 SOE Fan Faire in Las Vegas, attended the panel discussions, played a live-action game to get a t-shirt, and spent some time talking to the developers. I second the call to move this to (MMO). It will be released for PS3, but also PC at the same time. The demonstration was played on a PC but using a PS3 controller. Bill W. U.N.I.T.E. and U.N.I.T.[edit]

Is the organization U.N.I.T.E. (United Nations Intelligence and Tactical Experts) a reference to U.N.I.T. (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce), or is that just a coincidence? Xavius, the Satyr Lord (talk) 10:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While I am not certain, it honestly wouldn't surprise me. They do seem very similar indeed. SG 01 (talk) 20:04, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt seriously that they intentionally used an abbreviation similar to a real one. Bill W. Smith, Jr. (talk/contribs) 17:02, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They may actually haave done it on purpose, but I'm pretty it was a backronym (they took "unite" and sculpted it into an acronym). —Preceding unsigned comment added by FlashHawk4 (talkcontribs) 22:09, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Synchronization in internet environment[edit]

Can someone comment on the technical hurdles involved in implementing a realtime combat system in an Internet environment? Specifically, will there be latency and synchronization issues, or have the developers found a way to get around them? Or are they implementing "cheats" to compensate for them, which would take away from the skill aspect of the game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.87.134.39 (talk) 15:32, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I assume they'd use the same implementations many FPS online games use. If there ever really was much of an issue with latency and synchronization, it would be a widespread problem that is not localized to this game alone, but to the entire online FPS catalogue. As such, I'm not sure where you are going with your question, as there doesn't seem to really be any issues. The only technical hurdle, for them, would be to find the bugs, hacks, and cheats which inevitably pop up during gameplay and how they plan to stifle/remove these exploits, just like any other MMO and competitive online game. unsigned —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.194.58.194 (talk) 16:54, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sales Pitch[edit]

Some of the wordings and phrases in this article make it sound a lot like a sales pitch. I'll work on it, but I think I might need some help on it. Unfortunately, there's not really enough information in the article or anywhere else to rewrite it into meaningful encyclopedic content.FlashHawk4 (talk) 22:06, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name change / move[edit]

In this revision the page was moved to be called "The Agency: Covert Ops". However, I think that is incorrect. "The Agency: Covert Ops" is the name of the Facebook Game, and not the MMO, which the article currently talks about. No name change has been announced by Sony Online Entertainment for that particular game.

I suggest a revert and make "The Agency: Covert Ops" redirect to the Facebook Application section instead, or creating a new page on that particular game with a link from the original article.

On their official press site they are listed as two separate titles also. SG_01 Lunarchild (Talk) 18:26, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Agency and The Agency: Covert Ops are separate games with the same IP. The Agency is still an FPS/MMO for both PS3 and PC, while The Agency: Covert Ops is a Facebook application. The information redirected to the Covert Ops page is relevant to the PS3/PC game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pugetdolphin (talkcontribs) 21:15, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
