Untitled[edit]

The following was edited out of the original article but is sufficiently pertinent to be included here:

  • "One must be very cautious about leaping to a condemnation of him for this [his support of apartheid] unless one has studied and understood the evolution of apartheid as a philosophy. The original concept, for sincere men of the cloth, was one of the separation of cultures with equality, not of the subjugation of one race by another. However, this is not the place to discuss that fraught topic; let us just say that sometimes the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. "

My edits[edit]

I removed blatant POV about his life being tragedy. I also removed the poem because it was just too long. I sorted the stub and sorted the categories. If you have as problem with those things, let me know, but do not blindly revert my non-vandalism edits without a reason.--Thomas.macmillan 15:36, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Calm down, bro. I am not blind. Beefart does nothing without reason and I question yours. That is my right. There is a wonderful delusion that prevails in Wikipedia that one can get rid of all POV but it is just that, a delusion. Anyone who has studied the life of du Toit knows that he was deeply affected by the tragic events that befell him (read Opperman; have you?). How much do you know about his life and works? Do you claim to be an expert, or are you just another dabbler who wrecks the efforts of others out of conceit? As for the stubs and all, good on you. Well done. As for the poem, it is the only available example of a translation of his work into English and it allows readers to get some feel for the nature of his writing. Your assertion that it is "too long" made my intestine attempt to strangle my brain. It is exactly as long as Totius wanted it to be. Are you suggesting to me that you know better than him? If you are a skilled user of the Afrikaans and English languages, why don't you produce a shorter version? I will continue to espouse my point of view for as long as it takes. I suggest we refer the matter to the administrators. I have no faith in their judgements but I accept them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Captainbeefart (talkcontribs) 15:57, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
