photos[edit]

i think this page could use at least one picture of the north american corolla sedan. these are very common representatives of corolla. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.175.149.174 (talk) 20:14, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We can only add non-copyrighted pictures that somebody has donated (ie not from scanned from a brochure or copied from a web site). If you have a picture that you have taken personally and are willing to give Wikipedia free use if it then feel free to add it. Cheers.  Stepho  (talk) 22:29, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CS limited photo[edit]

This is not a CS limited, the car is a bomb, and is a mismatch of a few models, note:

  • It says 1.5 on the front fender, well limiteds had 1.6 didn't they? Also 'real' CS limiteds had "Twin cam" on the side, no engine cap.
  • One of the front doors is from a SE
  • It has black bumpers
  • It does have a CS limited sticker on the side rear door
  • and black piping around the windows
  • but the photos name says it is a seca, well it is a hatch
  • it (the name) also says it is a AE94, well then shouldn't it be a CSi limited then?

Look I'm not having a go at anyone, I'm just saying that a car that, from what I can see, has been in three crashes isn't the best photo to have. I'm saying it should be removed from the page. Or recaptioned to "5-door hatchback". Starfleet Academy "Live long and prosper." 07:14, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It has a 1.6 badge. Also beware that this is an Australian spec car. Your use of 'fender' implies that you are from North America, so possibly some of the options are not as they are in your country. But I do agree that the car has had at least the driver's door and the bumpers have been replaced (poor panel gaps) and that it makes poor reference picture for the CS Limited.  Stepho  talk  09:57, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
LOL I'm from Australia! I like US muscle cars that's all. It is a 1.6 badge? well I must have misread it. You see I have an completely original spec CS limited, if I can get hold of a good digital camera, I will take a photo of it and send it in if that'll be good? I was going on this car for the badges by the way... Starfleet Academy "Live long and prosper." 05:34, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
PS It is from NSW, that could have something to do with it. I think the model was differt up there, yes I'm in Victoria. Starfleet Academy "Live long and prosper." 05:44, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a photo of your pristine CS Limited would solve the problem wonderfully. Then we can toss that horrible old photo away.  Stepho  talk  06:58, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have edited out the "CS Limited" badging and renamed the image from "1991 Toyota Corolla (AE94) CS Limited Seca 5-door hatchback 01.jpg" to "1989-1991 Toyota Corolla (AE92) CS 5-door hatchback (2010-06-21).jpg". I had a look on the internet, and I believe that CS Limited models have body coloured bumpers (as mentioned above). OSX (talkcontributions) 01:27, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you OSX! Yes, I will get that photo very soon... Starfleet Academy "Live long and prosper." 03:19, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

May 20, 2019 intro paragraph revert[edit]

I don't want to start an edit war, but I liked the revised intro paragraph by user:Stepho-wrs a lot better than the reverted version, so I'm putting it back. There's no need to discuss the stylists' design decisions in excruciating detail in the very first paragraph of an article. Such content is better placed in a "Design" section within the article body, so I'm moving it there. Carguychris (talk) 19:51, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for restoring my simple intro - too much info in the lead paragraph is like drinking from a fire hydrant. Personally I feel that almost all of the addition is vague, contradictory or uses peacock language. Eg. It's round but boxy? At the time most of Toyota's vehicles looked very much the same as the E90. Look at the V20 Camry, the T150 Corona and the X80 Cressida. They were all designed to go together. However, I don't feel strongly enough to get into a big fight to remove it, so I accept the compromise of putting it in a 'design' section (although I couldn't resist fixing the grammar).  Stepho  talk  22:14, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And now someone is adding long swathes of text that talks about features that most cars got during that era. The entire 'design' section is a long winded way of saying it's a mid 1980's car. Many of the features he talks about were introduced much earlier in the E50, E70 or E80 models. My AE86 has almost all of the features he talks about and so did my previous KE35. The chrome windscreen trim was on practically every car of that era - nothing rare about it. He's waxing lyrical about the most mundane things.  Stepho  talk  10:53, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I'll be honest: I barely even skimmed what user:87.116.177.6 wrote. I just moved it, figuring I would circle back later. The new edits have made it even more turgid and I've flagged the entire section. Carguychris (talk) 14:40, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to give user:87.116.177.6 one more week to add sources and clean up the "Design" section. If there have been no improvements, I intend to delete all of it. Carguychris (talk) 16:55, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I'm glad you reminded us of this.  Stepho  talk  12:23, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for cleaning it up.  Stepho  talk  21:45, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The world car model generation with more years in continuous production ?[edit]

Hi, i have a question\ doubt is the Toyota Corolla (E90) , (the sixth generation toyota corolla), the world car model generation with more years in continuous production "1988–2006 (South Africa)" 1) ? I mean specific for a single generation (6ª generation,of the Corolla model) and not all generations of it . If yes its samme kind of record for this specific generation model isn´t it ? And if it can be added in page pls. Thks for all.

I think the VW Beetle (1938-2003, 65 years) wins that one. Or if you think that the first and last Beetles aren't compatible enough then the VW Type 2 T2 (1967-2013, 46 years) wins. A paltry 18 years by the E90 don't cut it :)  Stepho  talk  11:55, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Thks.

And about his class, i mean the VW Type 2 T2 is a Light commercial vehicle (M)? I´m not sure if Toyota Corolla (E90) is a Subcompact car class ? I ask if for its own class if there is any that exceed it? Thks for all.

The VW Beetle (65 years) is in the same class as the Corolla.  Stepho  talk  10:48, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

But as we see for a specific generation (6ª generation, E90) of a model ( Toyota Corolla), in this class (Subcompact car class) there is another with this specific record ?! I mean Beetle is a model of VW, but it have samme at, least 4 ,generations, so to be compared we need to choose only one generation of a model. I really like to talk about this and i have discover more new things of cars with this conversation. Thks for it. :)

The VW Beetle technically predates the establishment of the subcompact class by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, but if it were classed under the modern system, it would be a subcompact. The original Type 1 Beetle (flat windshield, torsion bar front suspension) does not have generations the way the Corolla does; it was gradually and incrementally updated, and although VW fans refer to some of these versions as "generations," they're really not comparable to Corolla generations since Toyota typically redesigned almost everything. (Name a Corolla "generation" where the only changes were a slightly enlarged engine and rear window!) The only truly major upgrade for the VW was the Super Beetle (curved windshield, enlarged interior, strut front suspension), but it was produced concurrently with the original Type 1, so it was not a true generational replacement. Also, aside from the VW Type 1, let's not forget the Lada Riva, which is also comparable in size, and was produced for about 35 years without a comprehensive mechanical redesign.
