"Park Board" vs "Parks Board"[edit]

I saw the rather peremptory dismissal of the "Parks Board" usage in a recent edit but added it back in as "also known as" because, well, in something like 35-40 years I've nearly always heard it, and referred to it, as "the Parks Board", including in forms like "the Parks Board offices" (which I lived around the corner from). I did a shorthand check of one searchable media source, http://thetyee.ca and it returned 224 uses of "Parks Board" vs 303 for "Park Board"; I haven't run a search on The Province or The Sun or Courier or West Ender or Straight websites but I suspect we'd find a similarly inconsistency. Maybe it's a generational thing, but it's certainly not one or the other and, given that the official name uses "Parks", it seems really odd to try and do away with that construction, as if it were incorrect....Skookum1 (talk) 02:46, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its enabling legislation [1] gives it two official names: "Board of Parks and Recreation" and "Park Board". Newspapers sometimes refer to it as the "Parks Board" but that is erroneous. Mathew5000 (talk) 05:22, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
