In the March Science magazine they state, "Solar horizon calendars ... among indigenous Americans, with one of the best-known modern examples being at the Hopi village of Walpi." Their reference is S. C. McCluskey, J. Hist. Aston. 8, 174 (1977). I Googled this and found nothing on the web or Wikipedia about this calendar. Why is the name of this village given in the Navajo (Dineh) language?[edit]

This is a Hopi village and has been continually occupied by the Hopi people since at least 500 years before the Navajo came down from Canada. It was never part of the Navajo ancestral homelands or the Navajo reservation. There are many other tribes in the area, especially the Tewa and Zuni, that have a much closer cultural affinity with the Hopi people, but are ignored in this article.
