This song was recorded under the title "Mighty Day" by Bob Gibson on his offbeat folk song album in 1956 and performed by Gibson at the Newport Folk Festival (not sure of year). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ynCeWH2qRA Please consider incorporating this in article. Untitled[edit]

I don't know when Eric Von Schmidt dug up the song, but the Chad Mitchell Trio recorded a version of the song under the title "A Mighty Day." It appeared in their 1961 album "Mighty Day on Campus."

No Seawall[edit]

The original line before 1915 could easily have been "Now Galveston had no seawall", which actually makes better sense with the next lines:

Now Galveston had no seawall
To keep the water down,
And a high tide from the ocean
Spread the water all over the town.
