Notability[edit]

He's going to be attorney general of a state. Seems fairly notable IMO. Smartse (talk) 16:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly meets WP:POLITICIAN, and would meet WP:BIO even if he didn't. Google News. THF (talk) 17:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

W.A.R. was the focus of a recent Huffington Post linkthrough and glad to see someone has started his article here. Great background information which should be incorporated into this article is here. I will try putting some in if no one else adds. He is former VP of the NRA, whose views are sometimes a little out there. According to him "I don't deserve that moderate title they tried to put on me," he groused. Also, here is a picture of his car, very flamboyant, and apparently very well known around Anchorage [1]. So much for him being AG of a state. But he's still notable for being the first department head appointment in Alaskan history to be rejected by the Legislature. 75.76.213.106 (talk) 02:41, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think, given the amount of coverage in independent, reliable secondary sources, notability is reasonably well established at this point. MastCell Talk 03:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Common name[edit]

If anyone's still paying attention at this point:

  • Before I move another page without discussing it first - he's far better known under his full name. Any objections to moving to Wayne Anthony Ross?
  • Second, from one of the sources cited: We've written a lot through the years about Wayne Anthony Ross...
In spite of that statement, amazing how all the sources cited, and all the talk page discussion, is from a three-week period. The subject heading "hangon" makes me believe that someone nominated this for deletion, so a bunch of quickie sources were thrown onto the article in response. Then again, since far too much of what I've seen on here amounts to a parroting of corporate media, I wonder if I'm just talking to myself since this hasn't been flavor-of-the-week for quite some time In other words, you shouldn't leave it to me to do the real work, because it may take a while if I don't feel so inclined.RadioKAOS (talk) 23:02, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
@RadioKAOS:I'm not sure he's ever been referred to anywhere during his career as anything but Wayne Anthony Ross, so I support the name change of the page. I can do it, if you like. Activist (talk) 15:29, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you did, but I was able to boldly move the page, which I believe means there was no real edit history at the redirect. I started on this a while back based on the ADN search site. If I don't resume work on that effort, it may become a moot point before long. Anyway, didn't you ask me about Charles Wohlforth some months back? Wohlforth appears to have a Wikipedia article solely because he wrote something remotely connected to Sarah Palin once upon a time which received a certain amount of attention from someone's favored source, back around August/September 2008 when people were madly creating articles related to every minute detail of Palin's life. Same situation here, a Palin connection received X amount of media attention outside Alaska. Once that buzz wore off, time to move on the next lost cause and hope someone else will come along later and clean it up, I guess. @RadioKAOS:Well, you fixed it and thanks once again for your efforts. I had read up and the Wikipedia guidance said to wait a week after posting to move it, but like you write, not like there's a lot of traffic on the site, so it likely makes little to no difference. Your move did preserve the history. Wolforth is a pretty good writer, I think, but again, I don't expect his article will get a lot of traffic unless he authors a major story. I still haven't the time to do a Duncan article. Hope you're well. Activist (talk) 18:46, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
