Paraphrasing concerns[edit]

I'm afraid that some of the content in this article followed too closely on non-free sources for us to license the content under CC-By-SA and GFDL.

For example, consider the following example from the article:

Norton Spit provides the estuary's main defence from the sea, as it extends eastwards across the mouth of the estuary, enclosing the harbour. At the end of the spit is one of two groups of sand dunes on the island. This sand dune system is mobile but is sensitive to erosion from both the sea and human activity.

The source says:

The estuary’s main defence from the sea is Norton Spit which extends eastwards across the mouth of the estuary. The spit effectively encloses the Harbour... At the end of the spit is a small sand dune system, one of only two on the Island. The sand dune system is mobile but sensitive to erosion from the sea and from human activity.

There were other passages that similarly followed too closely.

While facts are not copyrightable, creative elements of presentation - including both structure and language - are. I have removed the content for now. So that it will not constitute a derivative work, it should be more thoroughly rewritten. The essay Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing contains some suggestions for rewriting that may help avoid these issues. The article Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2009-04-13/Dispatches, while about plagiarism rather than copyright concerns, also contains some suggestions for reusing material from sources that may be helpful, beginning under "Avoiding plagiarism".
