Embassy of the United States, Nairobi[edit]

  • ALT1:... that, because of security concerns in Somalia, the United States Embassy to Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya is the base for the US diplomatic mission to Somalia?
  • Reviewed: Palestine
  • Comment: I think the proposed hook is just fine and the alternate doesn't need to be considered (note: a link in the alt is to Embassy of the United States, Mogadishu, which is one of two main articles in this DYK nomination, unreviewed at the time of this nomination). The article was started by User:Kenyan105 and I have added structure and expanded the content. Also note that the format "Embassy of the United States, [city]" is the common format for US embassies (likewise "Consulate-General of the United States, [city]" is used for Consulate-Generals), although their formal title omits the city name and is usually styled as "Embassy of the United States of America to [country name]" (the Nairobi Embassy's website uses "Embassy of the United States" on one line followed by "Nairobi · Kenya" on the next). This creates a problem when trying to wikilink and desiring to wikilink the city's name; wikilinking as United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya makes it seem like the wikilink target is "United States embassy" and not the embassy in the given city. Thus I have used the phrase "United States Embassy to Kenya in Nairobi" in the hook.

  • This article was new enough at the time of nomination for DYK and is long enough. Both the hooks have inline citations to reliable sources. The article is neutral and I detected no policy issues. The ALT1 hook is acceptable and my only quibble is with the original hook, which I think would be better worded: - Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:23, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
I think Alt2 is best. AHeneen (talk) 06:21, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
  • Going with ALT2 then; I have struck the other two hooks. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 08:05, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
