French corvette Sphinx (1829)[edit]

Model of French corvette Sphinx

  • ... that the wreck of the French corvette Sphinx paddle steamer (model pictured) was discovered 160 years after her grounding?

  • Original and ALT2 hooks are supported by sources. In ALT1, the phrase "pioneered the role" is not expanded upon in the article or cited in the sources, so I've struck it out as being too vague. ALT2 is more interesting to me than original hook. Date of article, length and the sources I can access check out (mostly museum and library articles). Some of the unlinked sources need ref expansion (What is Neptunia? Date, author would be helpful but are not imperative in DYK rules). Hook sources are in French but I don't see direct translation copying. The image has an acceptable license. Froggerlaura ribbit 15:34, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
