  • That long quote does not figure into the character count, which presently stands at 821. The minimum count for a DYK entry is 1500 characters of qualifying text. It is also unclear whether this subject meets Wikipedia's notability requirements. Her claim to fame seems to be based on a few articles in the Electrical Experimenter and her own oral history project. Yoninah (talk) 23:30, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
The author has added additional material and citations. Please recheck. Thanks for your work on this. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 01:35, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you. I reorganized the presentation and formatted the refs; please make sure everything is in order. New enough, long enough, adequately referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. However, I feel the hook could be hookier, like:
  • ALT1: ... that Gladys Kathleen Parkin obtained a first-class commercial radio operators' license at the age of fifteen?
  • ALT2: ... that Gladys Kathleen Parkin passed the government exam to obtain a first-class commercial radio operators' license at the age of fifteen? Yoninah (talk) 22:48, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
They're both really good. Of the two, I'm partial to ALT1. Again, thanks much! 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 01:30, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks. Since I just rearranged the words in the original hook, I'm going to pass this. Hook ref verified and cited inline. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 09:27, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
