Tourism in Laos[edit]

Created/expanded by Mattun0211 (talk). Self nom at 17:39, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

  • Nowhere near enough references. Each paragraph should have at least one. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:57, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Ok - all paragraphs have at least one reference now. Mattun0211 (talk) 10:51, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Looking better. The references need to be better formatted (access dates, for example), and should be combined when possible. Also the format should be consistent. For example, you have Lao National Tourism Association and LaosTourism.org, but they both link to the same site. Also, no spaces between references. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:34, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Have formatted access dates and combined refs where possible. Laos Tourism Orgainisation and Laos National Tourism Association are seperate entities, albeit closely linked. Links go to seperate web sites. Mattun0211 (talk) 00:54, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • You should check your reference format. I'm seeing the external links showing up as numbers. Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:27, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Ok - hopefully problem solved Mattun0211 (talk) 01:48, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • FN 24-26 are in need of more information (currently seem like bare URLs). Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:53, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Also, you should be writing this information in your own words. You are not supposed to copy and paste copyrighted text. I am tagging this as a copyvio for now. Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:02, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
* Ok - I'll rewrite it to reflect that.Mattun0211 (talk) 02:40, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Don't give up on the nomination too soon. The "use your own words" issue seems to be the last major obstacle. Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:12, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • I'm doubtful that this article could pass WP:AFD if one were opened. It appears to be mostly just a cobbling together of information from other articles, and the content would be more appropriate at www.wikitravel.org than here. Actually, I just glanced through several of the articles in Template:Tourism in Asia and most of them have this problem. (The only possibly good model I could find is Tourism in China, which has actual historical information and facts and stuff, rather than just travel recommendations and blurbs.) Is there an explicit consensus somewhere that these kinds of pages are encyclopedic? rʨanaɢ (talk) 19:05, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
  • If such an article were brought to AFD, I'd vote keep. With Lonely Planet and other travel guides, it's clear that this topic has been extensively written about. That the article itself is in poor shape is not a reason for deletion. Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:04, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
