The following {{dubious}} template was placed in the doc page on 25 April 2012‎ by User:Chealer:

{{Dubious|The Clarify template appears to have a similar purpose but to be otherwise unrelated}}

I don't think we use {{dubious}} templates on project pages. Looks like {{under discussion-inline}} is more appropriate. (Chealer, if you really think this needs further discussion, you can use the latter template on the project page.)

Anyway, my response is this: I don't see how the {{clarify}} template is not related to this template. They're doing the same thing; this template is just more specific about what needs clarifying. - dcljr (talk) 02:21, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Has anyone else noticed that[edit]

having an empty space after this template causes the following text (probably up to the next linebreak) to be quoted, i.e. that it's like a leading space, creating a mess???
After some quick experimentations, it seems that making the last few lines of the code continuous, merging them into a single one, solves the problem. I.e. changing the code from this

{{Documentation}}
<!-- Add categories and interwikis to the /doc subpage, not here! -->
</noinclude>

__NOINDEX__

to this

{{Documentation}}<!-- Add categories and interwikis to the /doc subpage, not here! --></noinclude>__NOINDEX__

seems to possibly be a solution.
This change seems innocent, innocuous (and miraculous) enough but I'm hesitant to make it happen before consulting other editors, as this is a highly used template and I am also perplexed by the fact that noone else seems to have noticed the problem or to mind.
Am I the only one that is having this issue?
If not what's your view on the aforementioned proposed change?
PS. I'm also afraid that other editors may have indeed noticed this issue and in various ways worked around it in practice, so I'm hesitant to make the change thinking about the various consqequences the latter might cause; the list of pages using this template is very long (more than 500), so it would be hard, practically impossible for me, to check each and every one of them after the fact.

Could it be that seemingly erroneous space in the documentation template? (called at the end of the cl-span tl).
There was some edit warring recently-ish on there, but since April, the change is just one addition.
The reason I mention it is that it would presumably add a space before/after the documentation line.
Might be best to involve one or two of the guys reverting edits on there. I would suggest User talk:Mr. Stradivarius, alternatively User talk:Jackmcbarn

CyRoXX's edit seems to have fixed the problem.
PS. I won't hypothesise on the causes cause while on the one hand I think I understand what for example CyRoXX's edit did, i.e. why and how for example it fixed the format mess/problem, these thigns are on the other hand, admittedly beyond my level of technical competence.
