The Alaska Experiment is a Discovery Channel reality television series. The first season of the series followed 10 individuals as they tried to survive in Alaska during the fall and winter. The series is produced by Ricochet. The series has been extended into its second season, now called Out of The Wild The Alaska Experiment. [1] The First episode aired on April 14, 2009. While the first season had the ten participants broken up into four separate groups, the second season has all nine working together. They also must hike to a different location through difficult Alaskan terrain every few days.

In the Season 2 finale of Out of the Wild, only four people remained. They were given a new map showing a 14-mile trek to their next stop. But after a one-mile trek on Day 30, they came across railroad tracks that appeared to have been used recently. They decided to gamble and wait for a passing Train. Their gamble paid off when a train with some passengers came down the track and stopped for them. They boarded the train for a three-hour ride, arriving in Talkeetna, Alaska. When they arrived at the train station, their friends and loved ones were waiting for them. Their reward was satisfaction for surviving and getting Out of the Wild.

The Discovery Channel has not yet confirmed if there will be a third season.
