WNBC-TV logo picture (again)

At 200 pixels, the image in the infobox is TOO LARGE. It does not need to be that big, yet you insist that it remain that size. At least we got the alternate image removed, but you don't seem to get the point here. Please leave the current logo at 150 pixels. Rollosmokes 04:48, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Once again, you are not in charge of this article, and I would appreciate it if you discontinue your Personal Attacks. I decided to give up the fight over having two logos because they have since discontinued use of the alternate logo, but this is something that I will not budge on.

Please show me where I have personally attacked you. All I did was comment on the image -- in my opinion, it is too large at 200 pixels. Unfortunately for you, you can't seem to take this suggestion and look at it reasonably.

You claim I'm in charge of this article? Look in the cyber-mirror, sonny boy: Your response all but convicts you of WP:OWN. If necessary, I will seek outside help from an admin to solve this problem. I was on your side about the single-digit thing, but we disagree on this. Sorry, I won't be budging here either.

It's nice to meet you. Thank you for contributing to the article. I will ask you the same question I asked Rollosmokes: why does it matter what size the logo is? Why is 200 better than 150? Is there a reason you keep reverting? I haven't seen any explanation in your messages. I frankly do not care what size the logo is, and think this time arguing could be better spent improving the article (such as adding in-line citations), etc. Firsfron of Ronchester 05:18, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

You need to calm down...

Think about it: WNBC-TV's helicopter goes down. A rival station -- in this case, WABC-TV -- covers the event, and wins an Emmy award for its coverage. A rival station, not the affected station. Unless WNBC wins the award, then it really isn't notable in WNBC's history. That's common sense. BTW, it's also not really notable at all, given that is isn't a big news story of momumental historical significance, so I'm for deleting it (and it should stay off). You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Anyone can look at the history of WNBC. You both reverted to your preferred version, five times each. After I gave you each a warning, you both insisted that only the other user was edit warring. But only you reverted again (after the warning!), and there was absolutely no reason for that. Six reverts in 24 hours is certainly cause for a block. I have reverted your reversion. At least two of us dislike that shade of yellow (which makes it look like a Post-it note). The use of italics is against Wikipedia style unless it's a long quote in the text itself, the title of a book or other specific circumstances. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. On the WNBC article, you have been reverting major changes without attempting any discussion. As I'm sure you know, it is Wikipedia protocol to discuss things like that on the talk page prior to making such changes. Please refrain from bypassing discussion in the future.

Hmm...the bolding wasn't a problem before, until YOU decided it was. Look at most every other television article...go ahead, do it...and then tell me that the use of bolding in call letters and their meanings -- which is generally done in its first mention -- is excessive. And, as Firsfron mentioned previously when he reverted back from your PREFERRED VERSION, the bolding of call letters is allowed under WP:MOSBOLD. 'Nuff said. Leave me alone. Image parody of US currency in Template:Econ-stub

Aido2002, parody and sarcasm can lead to misunderstandings and people taking offense. While I appreciate this form of humor in its place, Wikipedia mainspace articles aren't the place for parody and sarcasm. On August 24, you replaced a generic coin image on the economics stub template with coins stating "In Dog we Trust". I am reverting your edit because the image you used is a parody of US currency, and also because US currency is not a generic, international coin image.

I have a dog and I love her -- but I don't trust her to guide me in editing Wikipedia. Nor do most people trust their dogs in such things. Live and learn, okay? --Busy Stubber 01:46, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Yep, it's hard to tell at first that it's a dog -- or anything else on that small scale. But that's not my point. Please do not use parody in Wikipedia articles. Your image is a parody of US currency, and it's not a generic, international coin image, as I said before. I'm not interested in what you claim other coin images do. Your coin image is a parody of a US coin, and it's not a generic international image of a coin. Can you create a good generic and international coin image? If so, go for it! Sorry to bug you, but the image is missing the rationale. The problem is that the image page has to say which pages the image can be used in, per WP:NFCC#10c. Unspecified source for Image:2nd_Gen_iPod.png

Thanks for uploading Image:2nd_Gen_iPod.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Fair use rationale for Image:Nbculogo.png

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

"If it ain't broke..."

Your claim that adjusting the date format in WNBC-TV in order to make the article "compliant with Wikipedia's Manual of Style", is just as redundant as the changes you made to the article -- because the date format was already following the Manual of Style. Also, you can't do it "half were one way, half the other" -- it's either all one way or all the other. Thus, your claim falls flat. There was no need to fix them to your preference, and there was nothing broken in the article (save for that last paragraph) that needed to be fixed. Rollosmokes (talk) 08:43, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Have you even read Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Full date formatting, aido?

"In general, the following formats are acceptable:

• International format: 14 February and 14 February 1991 (more common in many countries);
• American format: February 14 and February 14, 1990 (more common in the US)."

"Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation should generally use the more common date format for that nation..."

That's not what I was saying needs to be done--All I am saying is that it should use one style consistently, and that as per the above cited guidelines, there should be no comma in the dates. Sorry for chiming in, but the use of British style dates in articles about American or Canadian subjects make no sense. In my opinion, if you want to use the British method, then change every article in every American and Canadian television and radio station, not just WNBC. Again, you're **still** missing the point, and you **should** care which style is used. WNBC is an American-based subject, and thus should be written from a U.S. point-of-view, and that includes dates and such.

We don't use the metric system here, nor do we use Celsius instead of Fahrenheit when taking temperature, so do you think we should use those units in place of the Imperial system? And, as Azumanga1 write, are you willing to change the date format in every single U.S.-based article? This is why your argument has no legs. Please drop it and move on. But that's not what I'm saying, once again! I've told you several times--My concern is not which date format we use, but the fact that it is not supposed to have commas. That is all I am saying. Once again: US or International format, not what I am concerned about. Commas (that's all), I am concerned about. Okay? I understand that we use the Imperial system--I live here too, you know. I'm not advocating changing the format to the International one, only removing the comas (i.e. January 1 2000, instead of January 1, 2000) because that is what the Manual of style says should be done. Orphaned non-free media (Image:NYT Front Page.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:NYT Front Page.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
