friskyRadio (フリスキーラジオ, furisukii rajio), friskyRadio or commonly referred to as FRISKY, is a groundbreaking electronic music service featuring live radio channels, on-demand streaming and downloads. Since 2001 friskyRadio has been on the forefront of underground electronic music, connecting a global audience to the highest quality music through experienced curation by editors and DJs from around the world thru exclusive shows.
History[edit]
In late 2000, Faisal Sultan founded friskyRadio, an internet radio station in San Francisco, with the sole purpose of streaming high quality underground dance music. Faisal has over 20 years of music and technology media experience and has played a leading role in music startups from the early days of the web. In that same year he was joined by Giuliano Garau who first took the role as the website manager but later evolved into the Artist Relations and Program Manager now mainly in charge of both the FRISKY and CHILL channel content.
During the early days of FRISKY, Ingo Vogelmann joined as a resident with the hugely popular Lightworks and Time-Out shows. During those years, Ingo took on the task as Vice President handling artist relations and recruitment.
In 2013, FRISKY re-launched as the world’s first and only electronic music subscription service specializing in DJ mixes with a completely revamped layout. With that FRISKY also launched their NEWS site under supervision of Chief-Editor Lauren Krieger.
In 2016, FRISKY launched their new DEEP channel lead by Rob Keith Rodriguez who was already a friskyradio resident DJ under the 2DC+1 moniker. Later that year FRISKY released their new revamped iOS app which provides innovative options including offline and on demand listening in hi res audio.

FRISKY’s team and resident DJs come from around the world, representing a variety of cultures, countries, and backgrounds, all connected with a love for underground electronic music.

friskyRecords[edit]
In 2009 FRISKY launched their official friskyRecords label. The label was briefly successful with 60 releases from various renowned artists. However in 2012, FRISKY decided to focus solely on the streaming business and closed down the label.
getFrisky![edit]
“getFrisky!” are FRISKY sponsored live performance events featuring their resident DJs. They take place all around the world. One of the most notable “getFrisky!” events is their ADE kickoff featuring several residents in an all-night event.

The station features over 200 exclusive shows from various DJ's around the world including: Dave Seaman, Darin Epsilon, Nick Muir, Quivver, Miss Nine, Jody Wisternoff, Pole Folder, Nick Warren and many more.
Groundbreaking shows[edit]
frisky Loves…[edit]
In 2003 FRISKY launched the groundbreaking “frisky Loves” series that features exclusive mixes from DJs representing their country’s underground music scenes. It is a daylong event that takes place on the last Saturday of every month. There have been 52 (2016/06) Frisky Loves showcases.
X-Chrome[edit]
In support of the female DJ community, In 2009 FRISKY launched the pioneering female only DJ show called X-Chrome, coming from the x-chromosome that decides a human is born a female. Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, X-Chrome features exclusive mixes from guest female DJs.
[Re]Live[edit]
In Oct 2014, FRISKY Launched a live-set only show called [Re]Live airing every week on Thursday night.
Artist of the Week[edit]
Since 2002 FRISKY features a guest DJ/Artist every week with a 2-hour exclusive mix. These DJs range from up and coming to world renowned.
Frisky Celebrates Pride[edit]
In 2016 FRISKY In honor of PRIDE month, FRISKY aired a leading-edge special that featured only LGBTQ DJs from around the world.
Mobile Applications[edit]
iPhone application[edit]
In 2012 FRISKY launched its first edition of the FRISKY iOS app. With the app users were able to stream the FRISKY and CHILL channels. In 2015 FRISKY launched a completely revamped application that included the new DEEP stream, set downloading and offline listening.
Android app[edit]
In 2013 directly after the release of the iOS app, FRISKY released an android version of the application. Scheduled for 2017 is the revamped version of the android app.
