Categorization principles[edit]

Hi. Thank you for trying to help, but your recent edits went against WP:CATSPECIFIC: Apart from certain exceptions (...), an article should be categorised under the most specific branch in the category tree possible, without duplication in parent categories above it. In other words, an article should not be in both Category:Regions of Eurasia and its parent Category:Eurasia. For that reason, I reverted most of your recent edits, since they would quickly polute the top categories such as Eurasia. Thank you for understanding. I have bulk reverted several more changes of this type. As a specific example, List of countries by intentional homicide rate is in Category:Lists of countries, just because countries in Eurasia are listed does not mean it should be in Category:Countries or Category:Eurasia. Please do not restore these incorrect categories without first discussing them. User:力 (powera, π, ν) 17:55, 13 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also note 31.5.133.157 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) which is presumably part of the same editor's edit history. 力猫 (talk) 17:58, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am noting here again that while your addition of broad categories to pages may be well-intentioned, it is not particularly helpful. Something should not be included in the broad category of "Africa" when it is already in the more specialized subcategory of "African coats of arms". I am now going to revert your changes and I am asking you to stop making any more similar changes now or in the future. Please discuss here or on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
