There's no policy against it, but it looks a bit odd to others looking at the article and in a way, imparts an appearance of dissension (mostly based on history of editors warring). Thanks! Banning ip's

Thanks for the message on my talkpage. We don't ban ip's, since they are generally re-allocated to a different individual after a time (perhaps every time someone logs on, sometimes weeks) and a ban might effect someone innocent of vandalising. Where there is reasonable certainty that the ip is assigned (schools, etc.) we will block up to a year after persistent vandalism. Otherwise, it is a case of reverting, reporting and blocking (with increasing tariffs if necessary). Cheers. LessHeard vanU (talk) 11:27, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
