Jack Evans[edit]

I apologize if I seemed to be claim-jumping by getting a start on cleaning up that article, after you'd said you were going to do it; but it seemed to me that there was a pretty good consensus emerging that the thing needs work (no one really disputes it) and Evans in his impatience was setting himself up for another block, which didn't seem to be in anyone's interest. So I took a few Bold steps. (As I said on the Talk page, the City Paper is fine as a source but any article that relies on it for sourcing as heavily as this one did / does is going to take on a POV tone. I think as editors we can decide which of the many foibles and issues reported by that paper warrant repetition here - whatever it is, though, it's sure not all of them!) Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jack Evans (D.C. politician), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Republican. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Compromise: something everyone dislikes[edit]

Bonewah, would you consider supporting the "alternative text" that begins "In the summer and fall of 2014, conservative websites and social media attacked Tyson's character and scientific understanding . . ." I'm not in love with it, either, but it may be the best chance to achieve a consensus compromise for inclusion. If we can arrive at a compromise at NDGT, that should also shake things loose at The Federalist article. Please consider. Regards, Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:54, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's a couple of semi-major changes I've made to the Streetcar conspiracy page; I'd appreciate it if you took a look.[edit]

Naomi Klein[edit]

Wikipedia does not have any policy or convention that a writer has to win a literary award before it can be mentioned in their article. Simply being a shortlisted nominee for the award is sufficient to warrant mention — nominations for major literary awards routinely get mentioned in our articles on the writers in question whether they won or not; Academy Award nominations are mentioned in our articles on actors, actresses, directors and other film industry workers regardless of whether the person in question won or was merely nominated; and on and so forth. Our rule on Wikipedia is that making the nomination shortlist is in and of itself notable enough to be mentioned, regardless of whether the person wins or loses the award in the end — and there's no reason why Naomi Klein should be subject to different rules than any other writer who's ever been nominated for the award.
