Thank you! I know both Youngshin and Ken Bruscia (he published my book, Healing Childhood Trauma through Music and Play). I have all the Journals of Music Therapy--Youngshin's article is in Vol. XLI No.4, Winter 2004, ISSN 0022-2917. There is a very weak reference that I want to replace in the Nordoff-Robbins entry--the New York Magazine one. But for now I am working on updating another sentence.

Hello, I wanted to give you some more examples of citation styles, so I thought I would look for more sources on the topic you are editing. I am going to give you too much information, but it is here for you to consider as relevant examples to what you are doing. Do not think too much about this and instead focus on adding facts, as I and others can help you with the citations just like a librarian would. I went to PubMed.gov and found these:

This is some background on the cultural history of this technique, as opposed to considering what it actually is or does. I often read abstracts through PubMed because they are easy to access and free summaries to read, even when I do not have access to the full article because of the paywall. If you notice in this case, there is a date error, probably because the "Journal of music therapy" is a minor journal and has not bothered to report their dates of publication to the PubMed database. To fix the problem, replace "NaN" (an error message" with "2004 Winter", to get

Sometimes even brief mentions of a technique can be useful if the mention compares the technique to others in the context of an overview of a field. See this source I found in Google books, which I might cite as

In the case of books, it is helpful to also complete the field for chapter or page number. Since Google only gives free previews which omit page numbers, in this case I could note the chapter by adding "|chapter=13 Types of Music Experiences: The Four Main Methods of Music Therapy". When added, the citation would be

The order of the fields, like "chapter", "title" and the rest do not matter. All of this might seem heavy but remember - your focus should be bringing expertise to the article and worrying less about technical formatting. Anyone can format your citations if you share them as best you can, but only you can bring the creative presentation of your knowledge of the topic. Hi! I have a few questions. First, I forgot if I should enter my messages at the top of the Talk Page (as I am doing now) or at the bottom. Next: in the Nordoff-Robbins music therapy entry I cited a source, a book Music Therapy Handbook, edited by Barbara Wheeler. I cited the specific page, but the chapter I referenced was written by other people. Should I change the citation to reflect this? And how do I cite a book chapter? Also, I want to clarify something in the Music Therapy entry but I'm not sure how to do it. Nordoff-Robbins is listed as a children's approach, and while it began as a children's approach, it is now used with many other populations as well. If I just add a mention of this under the children's section, then people looking for adult approaches may not find it. In fact, the way it is organized, there is no separate section for adults. I don't want to change the structure of the entry, but I don't know the best place to add this information. Any advice? Hello! New messages typically go at the bottom of a talk page. I happen to be watching your page, but in general to get someone's attention, say their Wikipedia name in the "user" template. This means using some code. To call me, it would look like this: {{u|bluerasberry}}. If you say someone's name, they will find you wherever you have posted.
About that reference - the easiest way to do something unusual with references is to ask someone. You can ask me or at the WP:TEAHOUSE or at WP:HELP. The main guide for this is at Template:Citation where it says that there is a chapter field you can use. Here is the citation as you are using it now:

On the citation template there are listed about 40 fields which can be added to a citation. Most of them are not commonly used. Suppose further that you are citing an anthology in which chapters are written by different people. Usually, these kinds of books have an editor and then individual authors. In that case, list the author of the chapter cited as author, then the editor as editor. To do this, add an "editor" field to the citation. In the in-wiki citation generation tool "editor" and "chapter" are options that can be seen by clicking "show/hide extra fields" at the bottom of the tool.

Follow up[edit]

Hello, I just reviewed what you did on the Nordoff-Robbins page. Thanks for adding the information! The page is filling out now.

I saw that you cited organization homepages at a a university and a at a college. Depending on the direction this article takes in the future, information about these organizations could stay here, or this page could mention them and they could be on either their own Wikipedia articles or an article about organizations affiliated with the therapy. On Wikipedia, decisions about this are covered under the policy for splitting, WP:FORK, or combining, WP:MERGE. If this article were fully developed, then it might specifically cover only the therapy, but then link to articles about its practice in different places or oversight under specific practitioners or academic bodies.

The most general feedback that I could give you is to try to add citations after everything you share, so that others can see the source of information. This usually means at least putting footnote at the end of every paragraph, but it would not be inappropriate to have a note for every sentence because Wikipedia can get rearranged. Thanks. Yes, you moved it correctly. As matter of style which you could not have know, for titles Wikipedia capitalizes proper nouns as normal, and the first letter of the title, but not other words. So the standard way per WP:TITLEFORMAT would be "Nordoff-Robbins music therapy". Good initiative moving it. In the article history, there is a record of the change you made, as always. I changed the capitals and amended a sentence, adding a new citation. There had been a link to anthroposophy for more information,which is now gone.
