Re: Etobicoke Collegiate Institute - Mark and Tim Gane

Based on the research so far, Martha Ladly may also need to be removed from the list of notable alumni of ECI! I'm looking through the link you provided, and I can't find a mention of either of the Ganes, much less which high school they attended.

It comes down to verifiability: information in an article is subject to being removed if it can't be traced back to a reliable sources. That's why the Ganes were removed, and that's why Ladly is also in line to be removed. —C.Fred (talk) 22:57, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for responding so quickly, C. Fred. The site I linked to is actually written by Mark (near the bottom of the page, there's a passage containing, "Martha, Andy, Tim and I decided to keep MatM going" - the "I" in this context is Mark Gane, and the Tim is Tim Gane), as it's part of Martha and the Muffins' official site, and most of the content on the site is written by Mark. Within that page, if you search for "Martha Ladly" you'll see a line that says, "A friend of mine from high school, Martha Ladly ..."; however, as you state, this does not indicate that Mark Gane attended E.C.I., only that he attended the same high school as Martha Ladly. As such, if it can't be verified that Martha Ladly went to E.C.I., then it can't be verified that Mark and Tim Gane attended E.C.I., at least until something to that effect is placed on Martha and the Muffins' official site (I assume). However, since Martha Ladly was already listed as a notable alumni, I assumed that this had been verified and thus that adding Mark and Tim Gane would be acceptable. As such, I won't add Mark and Tim Gane back to the list unless I can find a source that explicitly states that they attended Etobicoke Collegiate Institute.

Firewall

Hi! I wanted to respond at the Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Computing but it was already marked as resolved so I figured I should respond here instead. A good firewall (not the default Windows firewall) can control the inbound and outbound connections per application. I am using ESET Smart Security. Article Feedback deployment
