User pages[edit]

Please note that any given Wikipedia account is only to be used by one person. The statement on your userpage, "Homo fortunatus (happy human) is international scientific and social project", implies that this account is being used by multiple people, and as such could be considered grounds for blocking.

If in fact you are only one person, I politely suggest that you modify your userpage so as to make this more clear. DS (talk) 14:41, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Homofortunatus First, thank you for your participation in Wikipedia. I see that you have started the above article, which is likely a good topic for an encyclopedia. Unfortunately, there seem to be a few problems with the article. The first and most important in the short term is that it seems like large chunks of the article have been copied directly from Dizziness: Etiology, Pathogenesis, Manifestations By Dr. Kostiantyn Trinus. You must not have been aware that WP cannot accept copyrighted text. You cannot copy and paste material into WP, even if you make a few changes here and there. See: WP:COPYVIO for more information.

I've removed some large sections already, but it would be very helpful if you could quickly remove any other sections that you have copied from other sources. If all of it was copied just let me know and I will delete the whole article, and we can start again fresh. If I don't hear from you in the next 24 hours, I will have to assume that all of it is copied from somewhere, and will delete it.

I have some other issues with the style of the article: it is very hard to understand, even for me who has something of a background in the area!! Another article that you wrote Descendophobia is about a topic that nobody other than Dr. Trinus has ever written. I also wonder if you are Dr. Trinus yourself or work for/with him, since his Russian website is also called "Homofortunatus". Unfortunately, WP is not a place to publish original research and publicize theories. All this to say, I think we will need to do some work on the articles, no matter what.

Don't worry about all this: contributing to WP has a bit of a learning curve and we have all had to learn the rules when starting here. --Slp1 (talk) 02:08, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Slp1,
Thank you for your kind letter.
Your commentaries are very important for me as I am starting my activity WP.
First of all, I am female and prof. Trinus is male. I am well familiar with him as well as many other specialists in the problems of dizziness, vertigo and vestibular pathology.
Prof. Trinus is one of the most prominent researchers and member of the board of the Neurootological Soc. He is the first author of the Guidelines on dizziness. Therefore, I have used his material as a basis for the article. This article is not copy-paste portion of the copyrighted materials. If it seems to be not enough well prepared I should greatly appreciate your help. I do not have salary from WP and therefore I need more than 24 hours to redo the article. Please, give me more time.
You have written: “it is very hard to understand, even for me who has something of a background in the area”. This phrase is very important for me. I have understood that the knowledge in the Neurootological Soc. has progressed far away and MUST BE spread to whole community. For this reason I have prepared a series of articles dedicated to the problem. The scope of the problem is reflected at the site http://sites.google.com/site/dizzylita/. You are welcome to visit and comment it.
I disagree with your statement: “Another article that you wrote Descendophobia is about a topic that nobody other than Dr. Trinus has ever written”, because if you will open Descendophobia in google search you will find this item. Prof. Trinus has described this as a very dangerous, malignant sign of vestibular damage in the victims of Chornobyl tragedy. Now in the whole world it is met in the persons irradiated with electromagnetic fields. This will be the item of the next article.
Homofortunatus is idea has been born in the frame the international society, it means that human is born to be happy, I like this idea and want we use benefits of the progress and escape its hazards. WS Homofortunatus does not belong to Prof. Trinus.
If you have some objections or comments to my articles now and in the future I will be very grateful for your creative help. Please help me to make this material corresponding the standards of WP.

Hello Homofortunatus and thank you for your response on my talkpage. I've moved your comment here as I find that it is better to keep conversations together. I hope you don't mind. Thank you also for your openness to feedback, willingness to learn about our policies here and request for help. That is very encouraging, and I truly hope that we can work together to smooth your transition into being a Wikipedia editor. Unfortunately, this has to start by pointing out a few problems, as well as the policies and guidelines of this website.
You said "This article is not copy-paste portion of the copyrighted materials", but yesterday I found that large portions of the article were in fact copy and pasted from an e-book by Dr. Trinus, which is clearly a copyrighted source. The same words and phrases used in his book were used in the WP article, and this kind of copy and pasting is not allowed, per copyright law and our WP:COPYVIO policies; it is illegal and also plagiarism. Your response suggests that you are not familiar with copyright law or WP's (very strict) copyright and plagiarism policies. As a result, I have moved the article out of encyclopedia space into your userspace. You can find it here. I understand that you are a volunteer (as are we all) and need time to fix things, but we cannot host possibly copyright infringing material on this website. Please identify and delete any material that you copied from another source as soon as you can from the sandbox version, and then we can start to work on the other problems of the article. Once they have been solved we can move the article back into mainspace. I have also blanked the sandbox where you prepared the article, as it contained copyright violating material.
As well as the above links, I think you should also read WP's guidelines about sources for medical articles and conflict of interest. I accept your assurances that you are not Dr. Trinus but that you are the webmaster of a website that hosts and supports his work. I am concerned that you see WP as a means of further disseminating Dr. Trinus' and your ideas about vestibular damage and dizziness etc ("the knowledge in the Neurootological Soc. has progressed far away and MUST BE spread to whole community"). WP's only goal is to summarize the highest quality medical sources about particular subjects. Rightly or wrongly, WP does not cover emerging theories or treatments unless they have been published in high quality sources, most especially for medical topics. Unfortunately, your website and Dr. Trinus' self-published book do not qualify as the sort of sources that can be included here. WP is not here to get the word out about "persons irradiated with electromagnetic fields".
As an example, there is no value in asking me to google the term Descendophobia because lots of self-published (and thus unacceptable as sources) websites are included in a googlesearch. WP only cares about reliable sources with a reputation for fact-checking and editorial control such as reviews in peer-reviewed journals, medical texts published by reputable publishers etc. If you try google-scholar, the only result is the Trinus book [1]. If we try google books, the result is the same [2] (except for a reference to a cat) and if we try googlenews, there are no results at all [3]. Unless you can produce some other reliably sourced references to the concept of "Descendophobia" it likely does not deserve or require an article on WP.
I'm sorry to bring you so much bad news, but I really suggest taking some time to read about the goals of WP and its policies and guidelines. It is really important to understand what you are contributing here, otherwise you are sure to meet with frustration. --Slp1 (talk) 00:40, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much[edit]

Thank you very much, I need some time to prepare the reply and make changes.

Hello again. It has been 3 weeks now and it seems that you haven't had time to work on either article. As a result of the copyright concerns I am going to blank the article in your userspace. You can undo this if you find the time to work on it in the next week. However, just to let you know that I will delete it next week if no progress has been made. In a week's time I will also be nominating the Descendophobia article for deletion unless more evidence of the notability of this term/concept (other than Dr. Trinus) is produced. As I mentioned, I have looked for evidence that anybody considers this to be a notable phobia and have found nothing to go on. --Slp1 (talk) 13:30, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Descendophobia for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Descendophobia is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Descendophobia until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Slp1 (talk) 02:39, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
