Categories[edit]

To learn how to use the category system, read Wikipedia:Categorization. In general, you should find the proper existing category. If you add categories and the links are red, you should not just create them. Most likely the correct category exists, but you don't have the correct name for it. Krishna[edit]

Hi. Further to the recent edits and reversions, I accept that many people believe that Krishna was 'a deity who lived in India thousands of years ago'. But not everyone does, in the same way that not everyone accepts that Jesus was the 'Son of God', or that Iran is a 'rogue state' that must be isolated. Assume that I'm one of the non-believers, and that I'm not looking to be convinced. Why should I accept your statement over the previous article, which had found forms that were acceptable compromises? Imc 22:49, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further to the above, I've just seen the comment you left on my user page. Please make comments on other people's talk pages, not their user page, and sign them with 4 tildes. The answer to your questions you put there is that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, intended to provide a neutral viewpoint, by and for all users interested in a topic, not a soapbox to promote a particular view. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Krishna. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. Misunderstandings[edit]

The italicized sentences at the top of the Rama article are not intended to be a definition. They are intended to distinguish different uses of Rama. This is called a disambiguation. There are a lot of things about Wikipedia that you need to learn before making changes. To start, please read WP:NPOV - Wikipedia must keep a neutral point of view. It is not correct to push for a religious interpretation where it is not needed. To learn more about what should and should not be in a disambiguation, see WP:DAB.

Really, you are blundering about and people have been having to clean up after you. For example, you created a bunch of incorrect categories rather than finding existing categories. You were welcomed with a template that gave a lot of reading material. Please take your time to read some of that material. We welcome your input, but it needs to conform to Wikipedia policy and style guidelines - and it can't possibly do that if you don't read them... IPSOS (talk) 00:13, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second what IPSOS wrote above. For example another error you made was moving Jaipur school to Jaipur School with the edit summary "Title must be capitalized" - which is incorrect as per detailed wikipedia policies on article names.

Wikipedia encourages you to be bold, but if your edits are repeatedly getting reverted please read the policies and guidelines linked above, ask when in doubt, and above all, do not edit war - since that will only get you blocked from editing here. Abecedare 00:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving wikipedia[edit]

With regards to the message you left on my user page - I sincerely hope that you will read the policies, interact with other editors and then continue to contribute to this project. But if you really have disagreements with the wikipedia philosophy and feel unable to edit under its policies you are indeed free to stop editing here anytime, even though your user account will remain undeleted (see meta:right to vanish). Learning Wikipedia[edit]

Maybe one of the best places to start is WP:LAYOUT, especially if you are going to be writing whole articles. Gives a good overview of what an article should look like, and what goes in what section. I hope you are not leaving. It is a bit difficult at first until you learn the ropes, but remember that most of the time, other editors are trying to help and to improve the articles. Not all editors are good at explaining things, but if you need help, put {{help}} on your talk page and I understand that someone will come along to answer your questions, etc. IPSOS (talk) 04:48, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
