Previous Issue

Hey Jake, I was told that you hadn't been able to clear up the original problem. Is this still true, or should I revert to one of the other alternatives? Just let me know and I should be able to take care of this in no time ---Cheers, Grover

Hockey Hall of Fame - Controversies section

I see you've placed a NPOV tag on the section. Would you mind elaborating as to why on the HHOF article's talk page? RGTraynor 22:33, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Pink Floyd

Hiya! I noticed your recent edit to Pink Floyd where you changed "Pink Floyd enjoyed..." to "Pink Floyd enjoy..." ... while I'm new to British conventions on referring to companies, understanding that while Americans would say "Enron enjoys its status as..." versus British "Enron enjoys their status as...", your change confuses me slightly. What is the rationale behind this usage of "enjoy" might I ask? Thank you for your time. ~Kylu (u|t) 00:52, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Pi Kappa Alpha

Glad, you liked the changes. I hope you don't mind that a non-Pike did some changes. I just have a lot of respect for your fraternity. --† Ðy§ep§ion † Speak your mind 23:59, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: Hey are you a Pike?

Um, yes, Funboy ring a bell? Anyway the changes that i made to the motto and symbols reflect the current edition of the G & G that just arrived at the house the other day. JMLK, I was wondering how long it would take you to notice. I am not to happy with them, but the changes are indeed correct. Here they are(I edited it earlier but i guess i wasn't logged in):

Symbols and Motto's

The open Motto of Pi Kappa Alpha has been changed from "Once a Pike Always a Pike" to the current "Once a True Pike Always a True Pike" to reflect the True Pike Initiative passes at the 2004 Convention. The new motto is reflected in the 2007 Edition of the Pi Kappa Alpha Garnet and Gold Pledge Manual and reads: The greatest tradition of Pi Kappa Alpha... "Once a True Pike Always a True Pike". I am not a fan, but it is indeed the current open motto, I believe that this should be reflected but users keep editing my changes.

Also noted in the New Garnet and Gold Pledge Manual is that the White Horse as an open symbol for the fraternity. There are a lot of other symbols so this could be a bit confusing but all the other symbols are listed.. Why not the white horse?

I've added back the expansion tag you removed. Thanks for taking the time to look at the World Peace Bell article, but trust me, the article still needs expanding. Please see the talk page for more on this subject. Thanks. Veracious Reytalk to V Rey 13:26, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

U.N. Resolution 1737

Hello there! I saw your comment on that article and was a bit concerned. I agree with you, incidentally; I just don't think it's appropriate to call Iran "evil" and another editor "brainwashed", particularly on a topic that will probably become very controversial. user:Sharz has banned the anti-Zionist editor for vandalism, and it'd be a shame for you to be punished too. -- user:Wozocoxonoy 13:37 26th December 2006 (GMT)

You're right on the money; Islamic totalitarianism with is hated by all Iranians. Those people ruining WP aren't brainwashed. They receive their paychecks from the Islamic Republic.

Your rationale for deletion for this article is countered by overwhelming precedent on wikipedia's inclusion of high schools. I am removing your speedy deletion tag. Feel free to nominate the article for deletion at WP:AFD, but speedy or prod will be contested by me, so would be a waste of both of our time. As well, I note that you did not use an edit summary on the edit where you tagged this article for speedy deletion, and you marked the edit as minor. Tagging an article for speedy deletion is certainly not a making minor edit. Jerry lavoie 02:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Links in articles

Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links). Links should not be made to topics of only tangential relevance to the subject of the article, such as dictionary words and unimportant dates. Links are for assisting the reader in finding information that would be important for understanding the context of the article. They are not for directing the reader to any and all intersections with other topics, and linking to irrelevant topics dilutes the value of more important links. —Centrxtalk • 00:54, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: NHL stat leaders

Sorry, your edit per se was not vandalism, but I think when you reverted you missed some edits... I was just going back to the last full good edit. I apologize, I should have been more specific. I might even have been wrong, but when I went through the edit summary and saw what you had reverted, there were prior edits that were not rectified. Again, my apologies for insinuating that your edit was vandalism. Anthony Hit me up... 15:11, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Hey, thanks for the links to the census in the Oregon city articles, but just a quick reminder:

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Katr67 19:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Theta Delta Chi

Yes, but the page is incorrectly headed as "Chapters". Can it be updated to "Charges" to note the language used by the fraternity? Leaving it as is would be ignorant to the organization's culture and history.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by AMMcCready (talkcontribs) 00:10 April 20, 2007 (UTC).

Thank You

Thank you for making that additional edit. Also, you edits to the Theta Delta Chi page asks for additional references. What specific information or references would like the page to have referenced? Should I use the Pike page as an example? As the Graduate Secretary for the Grand Lodge of Theta Delta Chi(i.e., National Executive Board), I can assure you that the information on the page is accurate.

Tau Epsilon Phi

I've noted the sources tag you've put on the main page. I wonder what portion of the article troubles you? If it's the history, that is sourced directly from a handbook printed by TEP for pledges, which is not available anywhere on the web, except in some chapter websites. Our national fraternity website is sorely outdated, so not everything on this article can be cited from there (old men with fears of technology run the national fraternity). If it's the notable members, the individual members bio pages are inconsistant in their references to wether they attended TEP or not - this is information published in annual newsletters availble to alumni and members, again, which have no references available in web (digtial) format we can link to, but are still valid sources for the data.

So I'm really intersted in your thoughts on how to improve the article - since you posted the sources tag - so that I can help meet your needs to the point you feel the tag can be removed. Thanks for your interest in the page, and moving the chapters to another page has improved the article immensley in my opinion. I look forward to your reply. (Also, would you object to moving this discussion to the talk page so other alumni can contribute to the discussion?) Timmccloud 01:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for making that correction. I will contact some of my brothers and see if there is anything they can add to the article to flesh it out and add content (without any WP:OR of course ;). You are welcome for your kind comments - to paraphrase, you get better results with with honey than vinegar, and I try to take that to heart. Timmccloud 12:51, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you had edited the article about the city of Oxford, AL. According to your page, you have never been to Alabama, and that you are (or at one point) a resident of Colorado. Pokeman image deletion review

You recently voted on a templates for deletion discussion on Template:PokeImageNR and several other templates. The result was for deletion. The matter is now before deletion review. Please comment if you would like, one way or the other. The users of the Pokeman Wikiproject believe that their case was not fully heard the first time the matter was up for deletion. So please review the situation if you would like. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 21:46, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

ПKA

Hi Jmlk, the trouble with this is it's a very clear failure. It's not that the list isn't useful or well put together, just that it isn't the role of Wikipedia to act as a web directory. I'm afraid there really isn't much that can be done about this kind of list. If the individual chapters are demonstrably notable, such a list could exist with proper context etc. and internal links to their articles. You probably could link externally to such a list from the main PKA article without too much trouble. Deiz talk 04:28, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Need to edit your 'per'

re:this vote... please don't endorse deletion 'per me' as I'm fighting to keep this one, not arguing to eliminate it.

Also see my response note about eliminating such if unneeded or unworkable (or able to consolidate and eliminate... I've just done that with many per David Kernow/Archive_17#Commonscat_consolidatation_progress_record and will be cleaning out most of the rest of those once the new consolidated version {{ltsany|x5}} satisfies test #13 on the talk. That will also eliminate 5-6 templates on the commons, as the code will now be independent of sister SITENAME. In sum, I'd appreciate the chance to prove this out or decide it's unfeasible without TFD interference while it's still aborning! Thanks // FrankB 15:49, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

No apologies necessary. I have been very slowly converting those simple lists to charts with greater information, however I routinely drop that for more interesting projects (like the NHL team season articles). Excuse me sir, but why did you revert my edits? The "Medieval Manuscript Culture" page is a group project, of which LSpinks (the other contributing user) and I are both part. I was merely attempting to aid in wikifying the page, and I can't see a reason for undoing that.

Very well, in regard to the rational with manuscripts, but what about my unique links? You reverted ALL of those, which took a decent amount of time to create. My rationale was that, as the article gains in length, someone who is only interested in Late Manuscript Culture would find it annoying to go back to the top of the page to click on the manuscripts wikilink. But why undo my links to Devotio Moderna and other unique ones like it? A post on the discussion page recommending that I change specific links would seem to be more helpful. Giruben 07:00, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Your edit at disaster

When you made your revert at disaster, you only reverted one of the user's edits. However, both of the edits of 202.137.241.202 were vandalism and should have been reverted as such. My advice is that 99.99% of the time a user makes consecutive edits to an article where one is vandalism, the next one will either be correcting of their own vandalism or further vandalism. I've cleaned the article up. Graham87 07:58, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
