User name[edit]

The account name you have chosen matches that of a notable person, Mark Pougatch. Please see WP:REALNAME for relevant advice. Thanks, Certes (talk) 21:22, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please be assured that while this individual may be my namesake, we are in no way related nor am I pretending to be this person. Hope this provides any needed clarity. Mark Pougatch (talk) 21:28, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to change my username to avoid confusion. Let me know how I can do this, thank you. Mark Pougatch (talk) 21:31, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the prompt reply. If you have the same name as a well-known person to whom you are unrelated, and are using your real name, you should state clearly on your userpage that you are unrelated to the well-known person. Alternatively, if you prefer, you may request that your user name be changed as explained in Wikipedia:Changing username, or simply make a clean start by registering a new account and stopping using this one. However, there is no requirement to do either of those things; you are welcome to continue using your real name as long as you create a user page with a simple statement that you are not the broadcaster. Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
