Image:250px-Hachiko odate.jpg[edit]

Hi! Thanks for uploading Image:250px-Hachiko odate.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the image and I'll tag it for you. Thanks so much, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 21:50, Feb 26, 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright[edit]

Those images will not be deleted if a source and licence is provided for them. Yes, the current upload form sucks, but that does not excuse not knowing how. Also, I am trying to clear out the non-sourced images, of which there are approx. 3000-6000. I don't have time to check every single link and every single obscure link.

That being said, image copyrights hard to fathom. If they are truly GFDL, need to be tagged as {{GFDL}} and you need to identify a source, preferably an actual user, and if it is a derived work, the basis of the derived work. Cheers. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 14:08, May 24, 2005 (UTC)

  • I am not trying to be mean, but I don't tag the image unless the user has specifically tried and failed. And I will not remove those tags, as they still stand. There are 2 ways off WP:PUI, deletion or proper tags. But you do have one month until they are deleted. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 14:18, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
    • As I said before, when they have a licence and a source, they will not be deleted. Until then, they remain on PUI. There is no If, and or buts. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 15:03, May 24, 2005 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Shibuyastation-famoushachiko.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 23:04, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Air-koryo-logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Air-koryo-logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern. The article uses an updated version of this logo, so I think if this image is deleted it will be ok. Thanks. Nesnad 13:49, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Globalpagoda-feb2007.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Globalpagoda-feb2007.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 12:29, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Nearjoetsu_summer2000.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[2][3]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Prince Kassad 07:28, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot.
