Typhoon Vamco (2020)[edit]

- I could use advice actually. I just edit references using the automatic reference generator on Wikipedia's visual editor. It seems to always produce output that conflicts with wiki's Manual of Style. Is there any way to fix the references more efficiently? - Sparryx (talk) 07:41, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- I don't really see how the references can conflict with the MOS since references are usually wrapped in
<ref>tags, which makes the references appear separately from prose. The only possibly MOS issue is when the reference is put before punctuation instead of after. - Ah, that's just a normal issue. All the references are generated automatically, so the references won't be the best unless the website itself provides correct information. This causes a bunch of problems especially with websites with bad metadata, like articles from the Philippine News Agency. Manually fixing it is the only way, but it's not really that hard since you can do it from Visual Editor instead of having to switch into the source editor. - Now that I think about it, you can actually write your own translator for the service Wikipedia uses for citations. But that's only if you have experience with software development, so it might be a bit complicated. Chlod (say hi!) 08:11, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Additional impact information on Goni?[edit]
I see that you added a reference regarding the involvement of ABS-CBN in typhoon news coverage. Typhoon Goni (2020) (a.k.a. Heya S. I saw your edit on Mataas Na Kahoy and was inspired to search for similar sources for etymology. I added a new reference but created a new section for the etymology. I'd really encourage you to make these edits as new sections which can be expanded later, since they cover major aspects of the article. Anyway. I'll make one or two more edits and then leave you to it! Nice too see you're still doing this, although I suppose that makes sense after all the fun we had at the last editathon.
