AfDs and prods[edit]

Until further notice, I will no longer be:

  • voting in AfD disccussions (although I'll still be watching them)
  • nominating things for deletion
  • prodding

The reasoning for this is that things I feel should be deleted end up being kept, and vice versa, which means I obviously need a more solid understanding of deletion policy before I can participate in the potential deletion of content without wasting everybody's time.

The caveat here, of course, is that I'll likely be adding wikilinks and references to things that should probably just be deleted. Just don't assume that just because I spend an hour or two working on something that it shouldn't be prodded or sent to AfD -- if you think it does, go for it, I'm just refraining from making such judgement calls myself, and just treating every article as if it belongs to be here. Spazure 04:23, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to go ahead and start voting and/or commenting on AfDs, to help the learning process -- but I'm still not going to nominate or prod anything for at least another couple months. Spazure 05:02, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I went on wiki break not long after the above message, and just came back two months ago. I'm going to reacquaint myself with the rest of Wikipedia before going back into AfD, unless one of my watched pages ends up there (like the recent ytcracker nomination.) --spazure (contribs) (review) 22:01, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Concerning your most recent comment to this AfD debate, be aware that feeding trolls will often just provide you with more annoyance. That being said, I have duly warned and rewarned that particular anonymous IP, but he seems to have trouble grasping some basic concepts. It looks as if you've made a pretty good start here, as noted in your editor review, so keep up the good work! —Travistalk 11:44, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the tip. I actually spent some time deciding how to respond, and finally decided to completely ignore the personal comments and jump directly to the issue at hand, although I decided that I don't feel strongly enough one way or another to continue to "argue my side" in the debate, so I'm just going to let consensus and wiki policy itself dictate how that goes. • Can I just say that that is the most mature, responsible attitude I've ever seen in response to an AfD outcome. Bravo to you sir! —gorgan_almighty 16:31, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I hereby award you this for your thoughtful teamwork and outstanding anti-vandalism efforts! Dreadstar 00:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My pleasure! Well deserved award! (heck, I don't even have one of these yet....;) Dreadstar 04:02, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Invisible Barnstar
Thank you for your continued work and assistance on Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles, referencing and generally cleaning up articles that have needed attention for a long time. Your good work goes unseen unless someone disagrees ;) Jeepday (talk) 11:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The huge set of unreferenced articles from June of 2006 is finally completed. Thank you for your contributions. The new focus at Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles is Category:Articles lacking sources from July 2006 which as of May 28 is only 1,322 articles and should go much quicker. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and listed themselves as a volunteer. Jeepday (talk) 11:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question on article you just edited[edit]

On the Frank Camper Article I have a source I would like to add but unsure if it can be considered reliable. Frank camper gave a 2 issue interview to penthouse Mag in 1986. Do you think I can include as a reference? Hell in a Bucket (talk) 02:55, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sure an interview in Penthouse is fine. For future concerns, I suggest checking out WP:RS to see what is and isn't considered a reliable source. --spazure (contribs) (review) 03:01, 27 May 2009 (UTC) --spazure (contribs) (review) 06:53, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Grumpy before breakfast (me)[edit]

Sorry you found my comment excessively grumpy. You were the second person (or robot) to do the same thing in the space of half an hour which felt kind of excessive, and so I guess I was feeling got at. But you're right that one should assume good faith on these occasions, which in my case probably means counting to ten (or twenty) before reacting.

It's not even a particularly good image. It is, however, till now, the only one of that type and shape of car that we have.

Regards Charles01 (talk) 07:43, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, it happens. I could see your POV, and even reverted my edit to fix the image. It was just the part where you said something like "well at least I use my brain when I fix things" that felt like a personal attack. While I am admittedly human and make mistakes, hearing that wasn't a fun way to end a day here. :/ In any case, no harm done. You seem like an overall nice guy (I stalked your contribs), so we're fine despite getting off on the wrong foot. =^_^= --spazure (contribs) (review) 15:47, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Typo Patrol Errors (a.k.a. "I'm Not a Bot, Please Be Kind!")[edit]

Please leave any/all concerns regarding my typo patrol in this section, so I can maintain a list of errors I make in the future for purposes of spotting patterns and potentially changing the way I patrol (or the script I use to patrol for spelling errors, or both). I make a best effort to avoid changing things that I believe may be British English, proper names, or parts of links. If you run into any errors, please assume good faith and realize that I am not a bot (and therefore am a human capable of mistakes, just like everyone), but be sure to let me know of the error so I can be mindful of such mistakes in the future. Please also link to the diff in question so I can quickly review the error. --spazure (contribs) (review) 21:52, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You've been recognized![edit]

British English at Richard Fairbrass[edit]

I have checked it, and the spelling's fine from a British English point of view. -- roleplayer 08:41, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! After making that edit, I actually thought "well gee, what if I had a British English spellcheck?" I now have a firefox addon (with a British English dictionary) so I can double-check such things myself in the future. --spazure (contribs) (review) 08:42, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I must get me one of those. I had to do it by reading it... -- roleplayer 10:11, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
