Music in Monk Time[edit]

The film is notable and deserves a Wikipedia article, and I will help you if you want. But you must comply with the mandatory Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure in your next edit. You said you have access to lots of published sources but why aren't they present in your draft as references? High quality references are like gold and are the skeleton of an an acceptable Wikipedia article because the job of a Wikipedia editor is to summarize those sources, no less and no more. Right now, I could write an acceptable article but it would be much shorter than your draft which includes several unreferenced paragraphs that violate the core content policy of Verifiability. It could only include things mentioned in the Feather and Elwood reviews. I cannot read the third reference in your draft. I see lots of possible coverage on Google Books but most are presented as very brief snippets so they are not useful to me without access to the full source. Dear Jim - Many thanks! I could really use the help of a Wikipedia "angel" right now! One of your fellow editors has already come to my rescue. I may be old, but I believe I still possess most of my mental faculties, and Wikipedia has been really difficult for me to decode. I have supporting materials for most all claims, ie; accounts for foreign sales by distributor, film festival awards, etc. However, these things are all in my possession. I have at least, five more published reviews. One or two of them talk about the film awards that were verified before publishing. Unfortunately, I don't have a newspaper.com account. Another wikipedia editor linked the first two for me, but he never commented on the body of what I'd written. The one article I REALLY want to find was written by Stanley Crouch for the Village Voice in 1983. All I have from that article is one amazing quote! I would really like to keep my entry intact as much as possible. The two things most important to me are to acknowledge the support of radio station KCRW, for both my musical education and promoting the premiere, and the support of Randall Kline and SFJazz for producing the second premiere in San Francisco. Thank you! PS - my name is Stephen Rice and I'm prepared to disclose whatever is needed re: conflict of interest. I definitely DO have an interest! I'll try to figure out how to do that. PSS - I'm so clueless, it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to respond to you! That's what I get for being one of those people that has an aversion to reading owner's manuals! OK, I'm getting the hang of this. So, I read about paid contributor - I'm not. Here is the quote Stanley Crouch wrote for the Village Voice that we used for our press release 38 years ago, but I don't have a copy of the article. I'm pretty sure it was 1983. “Thelonious Sphere Monk was one of the few real geniuses of American music. The film, Music in Monk Time captures that genius with a frequency and a communicative power rare for cinema in general, but particularly rare for that elusive blue-print of the American spirit we call jazz.” -Stanley Crouch, Village Voice Thedevoutcatalyst (talk) 16:46, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are one of the producers of the film, and therefore you have an obvious financial conflict of interest. I am sorry, but I cannot help you if you are unwilling to comply with WP:PAID. This is a policy matter. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:29, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am Stephen Rice, producer of the film "Music in Monk Time", and I have a financial relationship with SFJazz to present this film online.Thedevoutcatalyst (talk) 00:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving forward[edit]

Please make copies of the other news articles that you have about your film. Go to my user page, User: Cullen328, and take a look at the menu to the left. Click "Email this user" and send me copies of those articles. I will create references so they can be used in your draft. The ones that verify film festival awards are especially important. Thanks. Wow! That would be great! I'll get on that tomorrow morning - I'm the designated Mother's Day cook right now - thanks again for everything! Thedevoutcatalyst (talk) 01:51, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
