Bourne Ultimatum re-assess

If you look at the project banner on the talk page, you'll see the five criteria for B-class. You can edit the parameters accordingly; if all five are met, then you are welcome to change the assessment to B. Regards, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 10:13, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I left a message on the talk page of the article on what needs to be done to reach B-class. Let me know if you have any questions. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 05:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE. Navbar

I'd just like to say thanks, for being so friendly to other users in allowing them to use any of the navbars provided on the respective sub-page. I took advantage of your generosity and stole one for myself :-O! A Prodigy ~In Pursuit of Perfection~ 11:52, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I am having trouble XD. You see my userpage as of now is just 5 or so ordinary links. If it is OK with you, I tried to copy your current navbar code, but things didn't work. When I previewed, one image didn't show and the caption for each icon wasn't there. Can you provide me with the correct code for each of my links? Or if your too busy, just quickly show me where I've gone wrong? Thanks much, A Prodigy ~In Pursuit of Perfection~ 12:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Special Barnstar
I have absolutely no regrets, or doubts in awarding you this. Thank you so much for editing my userpage with icons used from your own current Navbar. I sincerely appreciate this act of kindness, and hope that this award will suffice as your part of the 'bargain'. Thanks again, A Prodigy ~In Pursuit of Perfection~ 12:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Darn right it helped ;-).

Bourne Ultimatum

I left a message on the talk page about what I think the article needs to reach GA status. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing! --Nehrams2020 (talk) 00:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Potter peer review

I would love to peer review HP, but unfortunately I am leaving for India in a few days, so I wouldn't be able to get to it until October. If you can't find anyone to give it a thorough review, however, please let me know and I'll try to do something while I'm on vacation! Awadewit (talk) 14:38, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will take another look, but it will take me a few days Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:50, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had a go a few days ago at addressing the PR:

* Looking at WP:WEIGHT, it still seems to me that the first two paragraphs in the Books section go into much more detail (are given more weight) than the plot summaries of the remianing seven books. I also think each book should have a summary that is about the same length, but the current summaries vary considerably in length (one to three lines on my screen).

I've reworded the first two paragraphs to make them more general, and to focus on backstory. I've also rewritten the book subsections to be roughly the same length.

* The same section also suffers from overlinking (Voldemort is linked at least twice in three paragraphs) and has a direct quote (McGonagall on the Dursleys sp?) that needs a ref.

I've removed as many overlinks as I could find, and removed the quote.

* I still think refs that are just an ISBN are odd

I could redo these as cite:book.

* Is this about the books or is it about everything HP? I think your answer is everything, but then both the Achievements and Criticism, praise, and controversy sections focus almost exclusively on the books, and almost all of the material on the movies, games, etc. is at the end in an Other media section. What about the achievements and reception of these other media? * Also should there not be some mention of the overwhelming tidal wave of Harry Potter tie-in merchandise - lunch boxes and stuffed Hedwig the owls toys and who knows what else?

I've trimmed the Other Media section and renamed it "Adaptations" in line with LOTR. Serendipodous 18:25, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's going to take a little more time. The refs don't actually cite the information on the page; the page lists the exact publication date, and the books, like all books, only give the year. We're going to need other sources. Serendipodous 18:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See: Wikipedia:Citation templates Also, the books don't give the right info; you'll need to cite the webpages you got the info from. Serendipodous 19:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Never used it before. Might be interesting. :-) And no, I don't think the article is ready. New refs will have to be found to replace those taken away. Not book refs, but refs giving the exact dates of publication of each of the HP books. Try Bloomsbury.com or scholastic.com as your first ports of call. Plus, I'm currently stuck in an interminable FA that should have closed ages ago but is being kept alive by annoying citation issues. You can launch whenever, but I can't act as a conominator until this FA is finished. Serendipodous 13:49, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you're really looking for something to do before going to FA, I can say (and maybe as a fan I'm biased) that the "Criticism" section seems overwhelmingly biased against HP. Perhaps some more positive reviews from notable contributors? Serendipodous 14:27, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't say it's a deal-breaker, no. Serendipodous 14:34, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok so I made some rearrangements. I moved the 'Other media' to the top just under the info about the books and then changed some of the paragraphs. Just look through the history to see what I've done. Also, I added some bits about controversy between the books and films and added a few refs. All in all, I think we can now {{done}} that section on the peer review! :D —— RyanLupin(talk) 23:49, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your "formatting: nbsp-dash" edits

Hey there— I just noticed from your recent edits to Harry Potter that your automatic js to convert " —" (space m-dash) into " —" is occasionally placing multiple es next to each other when the text contains a space between an already-existing and an m-dash (that is, , space, m-dash). You should probably fix this before you do any more of these types of edits, because they're resulting in sometimes up to three non-breaking spaces in a row. Mr. Absurd (talk) 20:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, I just realized this is not your script. I'll ask the script's writer to fix it. Meanwhile, just make sure you check your diffs before saving so you can avoid this again. (I've already fixed the HP article, but you may want to check if you've used this elsewhere). Mr. Absurd (talk) 20:15, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, it's easily done (and easily fixed... hoorah for find-and-replace!) Mr. Absurd (talk) 20:16, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure.

Don't have any other articles likely to be promoted in future at the moment. Serendipodous 10:05, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you planning to nominate the article soon? Serendipodous 09:32, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roland Fantom G reversion

I think in your revert of the roland fantom G article, you missed that my second edit was not the same as the first as I learned a rule of wikipedia that I did not know.

I think in the process a valid contribution was lost.... and now I'm afraid to make edits again because they may just be auto-reverted as vandalism. Editing wikipedia feels quite tedious as a result of all these false vandalism claims as well as apparently rampant auto-reversions I see on many articles for other contributors.

Thanks for looking into this...

London peer review

Hello, I've left comments on Wikipedia:Peer review/London/archive5. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:55, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What?!

All I get is a T-shirt?! That was hardly worth contributing thousands of hours for. :-) –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 17:18, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a count of (154/3/2). I appreciate the community's trust in me, and I will do my best to be sure it won't regret handing me the mop. Harry Potter FAC

replied to you there. Giggy (talk) 14:07, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nudge. As I say, unfortunately, I haven't the time for a full review, so you won't get either a "support" or "oppose" from me; my suggestions were just that, in order to help you along slightly. But I'm happy to look at the amendments you've made to the article, and will strike as required, in order that other reviewers don't think the issues are unresolved and base a borderline decision upon them. All the best, Steve TC 16:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks

RE: Umm your userpage?

Hey there, Well I don't lie, but yeah pretty much. We do pretty much the same stuff (almost) and I can't be bothered typing, so yeah. I'm renovating my page now anyway, so if you want me to take it down that's fine. - PoinDexta1 | Talk to Me | 22:24, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will but, Wikipedia being covered by the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), I thought it would be okay. Oh well. PoinDexta1 | Talk to Me | 22:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was just kidding. I'll take most it off. No need to say sorry. =P - PoinDexta1 | Talk to Me | 22:33, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: ACC

The request was displayed to me as being still open. I of course would never open a closed request. I checked and saw the same Username taken and no log. These things combined made me think that it was taken already, so I put it down as taken. I must be having cookie or connection problems. I re-read the documentation after Ryan Lupin suspended me (this looks great on my record doesn't it), and I thought I was doing the right thing. I was confused by the apparently new tool where Account Creators can deal with similar usernames. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks Olly150 21:33, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't read that anywhere in the documentation, so that's probably why I got confused. Olly150 22:00, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HP Themes

Yhis issue was raised years ago, during the article's first failed GA nomination, and given that it was never addressed, I was quite surprised to see it get promoted. To be honest, it's also why I stopped editing the article, because I really had no interest in looking up scholarly articles on Harry Potter. The very idea made me feel somewhat queasy ("As can be seen when Harry eats the bogey-flavoured Every Flavour Bean, he is in fact making a tacit commentary on the state of consumption in human society. The bean is in fact eating him"), so I stepped away for a while and hoped for the best. If I really wanted to I probably could find the right resources, but I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort it would take. Serendipodous 19:42, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
