K-tel article

You left me a message about recent edits I'd made to the K-tel article. Most of them were formatting edits, primarily putting album titles in italics. To the best my knowledge, album titles are not put in quotes, but rather italicized. (Song titles are put in quotes). Look at nearly any music-related article, and you will find this to be the case. --134.174.110.7 (talk) 17:30, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

RC is hard work at this time

Hi! Do you have those lags in Huggle aswell? It's not funny - you have about 300 edits per minute to look through, and sometimes it takes about 5 seconds to show one edit. When it's loaded I often see that the edit has already been reverted by ClueBot. That means I have spent waiting for nothing. Regards, --Avoided (talk) 18:24, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

I've noticed occasional laggings too, but I've become quite good in guessing whether the reverter is CB or another human being. The bot is still usually a little bit quicker. ;-) It has happened to me a couple of times during the past few days, though, that Huggle starts to revert the next article when I have clicked the revert button on the previous page. Then I have an edit summary looking like this, and I have to rush back to revert myself. Widr (talk) 18:51, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I know that. It can be annoying if you don't notice right away that you have reverted the wrong page. People might think you are careless. Regards, --Avoided (talk) 19:00, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Well done for finding and removing vandalism on what looks like a very obscure page, but I'm afraid I don't have a static IP address and this is news to me. Don't really see the need to comment on the talk pages of anonymous IP addresses myself, but I suppose it's no stranger a thing than randomly inserting "poo" and "gay" into people's pages.
Happy editing,

You need a reliable source for your changes. It's not helping that most of your other edits seem to be vandalism. Widr (talk) 20:00, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

I belive that the fact that all welsh books and his grave have his name spelled as Gruffudd are reliable sources. And I have no idea what you are on about with other edits, I have only made one spelling correction on another page.

I would like to point out that under section "King of Whales 1055-1063" there is a direct quote from historian John Davies spelling the name Gruffudd. This is in fact a reliable source. And if you took 10 minutes to ask the internet, it is shown that Gruffydd is a modern spelling of the original Gruffud name. 74.113.110.1 (talk) 18:36, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Doncaster

I have been aware for a while that some of the information on the Doncaster page is incorrect, and I have amended it numerous times only for it to be continuously changed back. The whole section about Doncaster being part of Scotland is incorrect, and further research into this will prove this to you. I know the man who originally supposedly said this and at the time he was misquoted. See below;

“My academic credability is in tatters thanks to a string of news stories (misquoting me and presenting their version of the facts) relating to an interesting and little known fact - that the manor of Doncaster was from c1135-1157 in the hands of the Scottish Royal family (starting with King David) - However with Scottish Devolution being big news the story and facts have been corrupted to Donny being part of Scotland!!! The worst bit is it has gone global Arrrgggghh”

If you still are doubting this then feel free to email Peter Robinson at Doncaster Museum.

Itsellie (talk) 01:23, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

If that's the case, then you should try to fix the content of the article or discuss the issues on the talk page. But you shouldn't write commentary (such as "THIS IS NOT TRUE") in the article. Widr (talk) 06:00, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

The Stick People

Hello,

I am M.'. d'Ziur, the current bass player for The Stick People. I updated the wiki page to reflect this change and it was changed back to the old bassist. This is an easily identifiable and verifiable change in membership as most of our web assets have been updated to reflect this change. The page I updated was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stick_People. Any editor can easily see this change in all of our Madness album press releases (although the publicist mispelled my last name), http://thestickpeople.com and our facebook page. My personal facebook profile and page also reflect my membership in the band.

I don't see HOW the changes I made to update the WIKI to reflect this IMPORTANT change in membership is "not constructive".

Thanks, M.'. mdziur@yahoo.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.227.181.211 (talk) 01:39, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi,

I deleted the page for Linda Burfield Hazzard as the whole article (apart from some references to newspaper articles of the time which really don't tell us much.) has obviously been gleaned from "Starvation Heights" a rabid, sensationalist account of Burfield's trial - a smear job. The article uses "starvation" and "fasting" interchangeably. (As a matter of interest it takes 75 days to starve to death.) Also, it has supposed ex-patients of Hazard talking about having one orange per day or some thin tomato broth every day. No fasting practitioner gives any food during a fast. A water fast is just that - no food! An orange or tomato is the sort of thing used to break a fast. Food has to be re-introduced gradually. I know because I have done a self administered fast of 42 days 6 years ago and a 12 day fast around a month ago.

This is from Hazzard's book: "Scientific Fasting" "..........During a fast that is to be prolonged until hunger returns, food of any kind is an intruder, for the energy of the body is being directed through the organs of elimination toward cleansing the system of self-manufactured poison.........When toxic elimination has reached the vanishing point, the juncture at which rebuilding of cell structure is demanded lest the body die, hunger will definitively appear.......... (note that in this passage Hazard does not sound like the crazed, power mad sadist that she is portrayed as. The book was obviously written by a clever, rational woman and is very interesting. From readin her book I can tell you that Hazard was not the lone loony she is portrayed as in this article and in "Starvation Heights". ) She was taught by Dewey, one of the two pioneers of therapeutic fasting.

As someone who has done a long fast myself, I know that hunger disappears after around 3 days. While it is true that when fasting, one thinks constantly of food, it is not because of hunger per se. I would regularly cook for the freezer while fasting, with no inclination at all to eat what I was preparing. So accounts of "inmates" begging for help because they were starving is just not credible.

It is true that Hazard did practice vigorous enemas and massage (unlike Dewey her mentor). Some other therapeutic fasting practitioners also used enemas but this practice fell out of favour around 80 years ago under the influence of Shelton and enemas are no longer thought to be necessary.

I am writing a book about alternative medicine, including the history of therapeutic fasting. I will be writing a critique of "Starvation Heights" in a few days time and will be happy to post an objective, sensible article on Hazard on Wikipedia when I have finished it. I will be carefully dissecting the book "Starvation Heights" page by page. I can tell you now though that there are very few verifiable facts in it. It reads like a horribly overwritten novel, full of purple prose. It certainly is not objective!

If the author of the original article wants to disagree with me, let him/her post some verifiable facts with references and sources that can be checked. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 22:15, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. Deleting most of the article without explaining why is usually considered vandalism. That's why you should always remember to use the edit summary. Widr (talk) 22:22, 4 March 2013 (UTC)

I have been trying to edit the first para for a little more objectivity. I have only succeeded in editing the first sentence. The rest of the edit seems to be blocked. Is this because some kind of bot has been put in place to block my edits? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 10:07, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Nobody else has been editing the article, besides you. No bots or other human beings. Widr (talk) 10:21, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

OK. I am fairly new to writing/editing on Wikipedia. Why are my edits not working? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawbeetroot (talkcontribs) 10:22, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I see that you've made some edits to the article. If you don't see the outcome when you save the page, you could try to refresh the page. Maybe that would help. Other than that, it's hard to figure out what the problem could be. Widr (talk) 10:52, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

For the record: I am currently readying Starvation Heights and it is an excellent book. Its very well researched and Olsen uses his imagination to reconstruct the events. It is fairly well balanced and is sympathetic to all of the characters involved. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.246.35.164 (talk) 18:06, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
