"Wheel of Fortune" was the debut single by Swedish pop group Ace of Base, from the album Happy Nation. It was first released in Denmark in April 1992 through small independent label Mega Records.
On November 23, 2007, Jonas and Ulf mentioned in their Copenhagen concert that a remix of the song would be released as the lead single for the upcoming remix album in February 2008.[1] However, it was not until October 24, 2008 that the remix was released commercially, as a download only. [2][3][4] A 5-track promo CD was released to clubs on 16 October 2008 including the original 1993 mixes. A portion of the downloads will be donated to charity.[5]

The original version has a music video directed by Viking Nielson, and featuring all four original members.

For the 2009 version, the label decided not to shoot a video for the song. However, a promo video was published on 21 October 2008 on the band's official website. Like their 1998 single "Always Have Always Will", the video consists of mostly live footage from their current tour and behind the scenes to the photo shoots for the upcoming new album. The edit used in the video is a combination of the radio and album versions, lasting at 3:15 minutes.[6]

The 1992 version failed to reach the singles chart on its first two releases, but when it was re-released a third time in September, it eventually reached number two. After the success of "All That She Wants" in the United Kingdom, it was released as the second UK single and it reached number 20 in the UK Singles Chart in August 1993.
On December 3, 2007, the live version of the song entered the charts at #2 in Brazilian radio station Emboabas FM.[7] The song entered the Radio Aachen chart in Germany at #26 on December 15, 2007.[8] It also entered the Euro WebCharts at #5 in the last week of 2007 and eventually reached #1.[9]
