Reason: High resolution, good quality picture with high EV of a rock ptarmigan showing its summer plumage on Mount Tsubakuro, Japan. These birds change their camouflage seasonally, from white in winter to brown in summer.

Support Not normally a fan of pictures of subjects with this sort of backdrop ie interesting to the point of potential distraction, but in this case it helps the EV of the bird as it has similar coloured feathers to the rocks on the left, and demonstrates a certain level of camoflage.
