Historical flags of China[edit]

Hello,

I would like to know if any flags were flown over China before 1862 (the adoption of the first national flag, as I understand it.) I have tried useing Google but it was of no help.

Thank you. 68.74.200.55 (talk) 23:28, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

List of Chinese flags includes a section: Historical national flags. --2603:6081:1C00:1187:DD45:E1CD:EA6A:4AD0 (talk) 01:39, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See also the "Historical flags" section of this page at FOTW. --184.144.99.72 (talk) 02:43, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Huh. The CAPTCHA I had to pass to post this was "edifybozos"! Not very nice to the original poster, eh? --184.144.99.72 (talk) 02:43, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Did not even think about FOTW. Now, if’ll you’ll excuse me, my jumping beans are ready. 68.74.200.55 (talk) 03:43, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, 68.74.200.55 - I had thought that Hong Kong was a British possession from 1897-1997, but on reading the list of Chinese flags article discovered that it was British from 1841-1997, meaning the many links on the various lists of shipwrecks were wrong. Have now corrected all those covering the period 1841-77, and will amend others as I work on the later lists. Every day's a schoolday, isn't it? Mjroots (talk) 09:38, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You were probably thinking of the New Territories. Alansplodge (talk) 22:43, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
