Pinutí
Appearance
The pinuti is a Visayan (Philippines) sword that was originally an agricultural implement. The grip is usually made of guava wood, which is light. The blade itself is approximately 15 to 16 inches (38–40cm) long.
The pinuti got its "shining blade" nickname because as a farm implement, it ultimately will have a dark patina due to contact with plant and animal liquids. When farmers sharpen their blades, the edges become shimmering white. Hence "pinuti", which means "whitened" in Cebuano.
