I directly linked the Wikipedia article to the movie, which lists the casting. Also I wanted to make clear, that in modern times race bending usually makes a white character black. The stated examples, however focused nearly only on the opposite, which has been the case in previous times YES. But nearly completely vanished since at least 2015 undo Tags: Reverted Mobile edit Mobile web edit

"China" and all other real world countries don't exist aside from the nations provided. Better wording would be "coded" as the show draws from East Asian and Amerindian cultures.. undo

Several sources provided are specifically centred around "Asian-Americans" or dealing with Hollywood stereotypes. As well as the catalyst for this term coming from an American production. These issues may be faced by say, Asian film industries who can hire their own native citizens. undo

The actors who played Katara, Sokka and Aang are not from Europe, they're Americans of European descent. The continent of Asia is filled with people of any "races" and skin colours as well, but that's besides the point. undo
