It is not the view of the main academic world that KMT's nationalist rule is fascism. The KMT's Chinese state nationalism is less fascistic than the 'statist' ideology of the Japanese Empire, so if Japan's rule of Taiwan is not fascist, so is the KMT's rule of Taiwan. Also, Chiang Kai-shek, unlike Francisco Franco, has much less fascist elements. undo
