Dhamaka is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by RSVP Movies, Ram Madhvani Films, Lotte Cultureworks and Global Gate Entertainment.[2] The movie stars Kartik Aaryan in the leading role of a journalist.[3] It is the first ever collaboration of director Ram Madhvani with Kartik Aaryan.[4] Dhamaka is an official remake of the 2014 South Korean film The Terror Live.[5] The movie will have a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix in the first half of 2021, once its post-production is finished.[6]

Cast

Production

In October 2020, it was reported that director Ram Madhvani narrated the film's script to Kartik Aaryan and he gave his nod, as it was his first serious role after a number of comical and romantic characters.[8] Aaryan officially announced the film on his 30th birthday, i.e. 22 November 2020.[9] Principal photography began on 14 December 2020 in Mumbai.[10] [11][12] The film was wrapped up in just 10 days on 24 December 2020.[13][14][15]

Marketing and release

On 22 November 2020, apart from official announcement, a first look poster was also revealed.[16] Aaryan unveiled the first glimpse of his character on 21 December 2020.[17]

In January 2021, it was reported that Dhamaka will now have a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix and skip theatrical release due to COVID-19 pandemic.[18]
