:As a member of the press, I should you should take a good look at your concept of journalist integrity. Would you have done the same test at Strathfield railway station: that is, vandalised something, then see how long it takes for the authorities to clean it up, then write about it? I doubt it. So why do it to us? Pretty disgusting behaviour, and you have been duly added to [[Wikipedia:List of media personalities who have vandalised Wikipedia]]. I'm also interested in the fact that you didn't publish my response in your comments section: perhaps on top of a lack of journalist integrity you also have a lack of journalist courage to publish the opposing view? Good luck with that! --[[User:Ta bu shi da yu|Ta bu shi da yu]] 21:23, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Revision as of 21:23, 16 January 2007

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia! Allow me to be the first to thank you personally for your contributions to topics related to Marvel Comics. They are very welcome.

However, you should consider reading the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Most notably, it is standard Wikipedia style to put the title of a page in bold somewhere in the first sentence. If you could just adjust your editing style ever-so-slightly, it would appear much more consistent and professional. :) You should also consider creating a user name and possibly requesting reattribution of your edits.

Thanks for your work, and good luck! - Fennec 01:38, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hi. I liked your additions to Xander Harris. I added one more example of his supporting his friends: when he contributed his "heart" to Buffy (along with Giles' "mind" and Willow's "spirit") so she could defeat Adam. Thanks for your additions. --Arteitle 16:20, Aug 27, 2004 (UTC)

Vandalism

Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. Lectonar 11:51, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism 2

Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Lectonar 11:55, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism 3

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Dijxtra 15:19, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to the List of Bosnians

Hi contributor,

I notice you've been linking a lot of articles to the List of Bosnians page. Just so you know, this isn't normally what's done with these lists. Lists are good places to have centralized information, and as such they are often linked from, say, the Bosnia main page. However, there is no point linking every person on the list back to the list.

Rather, what we usually do here is use Wikipedia's categorization system. For instance, you added a link to the List on the article on Aleksa Šantić. If you had looked at the bottom of the article, however, you would have seen that he was already categorized in Category:Bosnian poets. This is a more efficient system, as it is automatically updating and hierarchical. You can make your way though links up from Category:Bosnian poets to Category:Culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Category:Bosnia and Herzegovina or Category:European culture or whatever. I think you'll find that the system we already have in place is a much more efficient system.

Response to Asbestos

Hi there,

Thanks for letting me know, I'm new to this and not quite sure on how things are done yet. Happy to let the system work for the pages, just noticed that a lot of intuitive links are not really there.

Secondly, not sure what the messages about Vandalism are all about, or the messages above the vandalism messages - I only discovered this about a month ago and had not been contributing in any way before then. Is it possible that someone else may have been using my IP address?

Also, left messages for you and Dijxtra on your respective pages.

Thanks. 06:37, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi there... I seem to be the only person irritated by your behaviour on Wikipedia, so it would be logical for me to give you few pieces of advice, now that you show good will. :-) First of all, thank you for your effort of contributing, Wikipedia needs people linke you, eager to contribute new information.
Second, why not registering yourself? I mean, you are not obliged to register, but it will help you and the Wikipedia community in few different ways. Somebody has used your IP before you and he seems to have a history of vandalizm, so every time somebody comes on your Talk_page that someone will think that you are the person who vandalized from this IP. If you register, this won't happen AND we won't call you User:203.26.177.2 but you can choose a more convinient name :-)
Third, you probably realize you did some things the wrong way. First of all, the way you replied to Asbestos... that's not the way we do it. The right way is to replay in the same section, below the text you are replying to, with ": " in the beginning of every paragraph, so your text becomes idented, just as I do now. When you reply to me, you use ":: ", to get 2 idents, and so on.
When signing, it would be nice if you didn't use just ~~~~~, but ~~~~, because in the first case you leave only a timestamp, which is not what signing is for, you are supposed to leave a link to your user page, so we know who's talking :-)
I saw your new article about Safvet-beg Bašagić. I made a number of changes to that article, and it would be great if you see into this changes and ask me if you don't understand why I did something I did. Mos inportant changes I did: linked the Bosnian wikipedia article the right way, removed "-----"'s, they are depreciated, don't use them if not absolutely neccessary, put born/died info in brackets, categorised the article, moved article from Safvet-beg Basagic to Safvet-beg Bašagić (full list of changes you can see here). I thank you for that article, since just 3 days ago I wanted to find more info about him, but I couldn't since there was no Wikipedia entry for him :-)
Now regarding that notorious List of Bosnians. List of Bosnians is really a nice thing, but you just don't put the link on every page about Bosnians. But, as I see, Asbestos explained that already.

OK, let's see if I've learnt anything, :-). Thanks for editing Safvet-beg's page, he's happily smiling fr Bas-carsija at you, :-) - the only thing is his real name IS Safvet-beg Basagic, but he also used Mirza Safet as his 'nom de plum', so Mirza Safet wasn't really his 'real name'. :-)
Oh, sorry... there, I fixed it :-)
Will observe all the rest, thanks for letting me know. And Basagic is going to be a lot more elaborate in the future, I just don't have time at the moment, so come back and check him out, :-). Thanks again. t. 203.26.177.2 05:40, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Glad I could be of help! :-) --Dijxtra 07:39, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi "Anon" —

I'm sorry I don't have anything else to call you, and I'm sorry about the mix up with the "he's". Can I suggest creating a user account? That way you'd have a name and your own talk page, instead of having to share one with someone who apparently isn't so nice.

No worries about the linking/categorizing issue. That precise question is one that has filled pages upon pages of discussion about Wikipedia policy, so there's no reason to think that it's particularly intelligible to a newcomer (or even that it's standardized between old-comers). The easiest way to see if what you're doing is right is to see whether your edits stay up after you've made them. If someone changes them back, ask the person who did it (which you can see in the "History" tab at the top of the page). Maybe they had a good reason, maybe you were right all along. You can always check with other people at the Help desk if you're unsure.

Thanks Asbestos,
I shall register and do the rest ... and hopefully I will stop annoying people too, :-). Cheers, t. 203.26.177.2 05:42, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
