==Sangam Literature==

Hi. thanks your messge and apologies for the delay in my reply. I will take a look at the links you have given and some of them make interesting reading. However none of the evidence directly point to the existance of the three Sangams. The archealogical evidence merely points to a flourishing Tamil civilisation during the pre-historic period. There is no dispute there. The Sangam legends became only vogue after the commentary on Irayanar Agapporul, attributed to Natkeerar. There are scholarly articles on the commentary discussing the Sangam legends. The article should not include unscientific and unprovan information as fact. I hope you understand. cheers Parthi talk/contribs 03:42, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

::Hi Parthi, I agree with you that article should have claims either published in a reputable newspaper or from reputed sites. I am planning to add the following contents under Sangam legends supported by proper references.
The Sthalapurana of Madurai speaks of 473 member - poets and three sangams. Historian Nilakanta Sastri dates the Kadai Sangam(Third Sangam) between AD 100 and 250. The Potramaraikulam (40 meters by 60 meters tank in Madurai) figures in the legend. Legend has is that the literacy works submitted to the sangam for assessment were thrown into the Potramaraikulam, whereupon a divine force judged the manuscript works of merit floated on the water and inferior ones sank. The Greatest Composition in Tamil - "Thirukkural" by Thiruvalluvar was released on this corridor of this Tank. 1330 kurals are inscribed on the white marbles in the southern side of this tank. Statues of tamil scholars belonging to the last tamil 'Sangam' are carved in the pillars situated in the southern side of the Potramaraikulam.

Re: Carnatic music

What do you think should be done? These thing are always difficult. I haven't taken a good look at what this person is doing yet. Sometime it is best to just let them do it and fix it later -- unless you feel you can communicate with the user and enlist his support. Let me know what I can do. chalukya

Is this a valid citation

"ref name="Shalke">Tanjore inscription on the walls of famous Brihadeshwar temple completed on 13th Dec 1803,its translation in English is made by Shri V.Srinivasachari and Tamil version is made by Shri S.Gopalan, in a book titled Bhosale vansha charita, reprinted by Director of Sarasvati Mahal Library,Tanjavar(1990)"

This appears as citation #13 on the article.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 19:10, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know his basic details like DoB, DoD etc for adding in the article ? There is none available online. Tintin 14:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Venu,

May I know why you removed the link to Kanyakumari District ; wouldn't someone interested in knowing about Kanyakumari town, also like to know about the district where the town is situated - both have the same name ; and you call it non-sense (educated talk ?)

ur reverts

It will be nice if u think twice before u delete cited info. U r not the judge of what is right and what is wrong. Stop endorsing Mr.Kannambadi. FYI, I have not added the Tanjore thing, Mr.Dbkesar has added,so ur deletion of other stuff is highly offensive. Please dont do again. Sarvabhaum 12:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi venu

Can I give a direct link of an image which is in another website. ie ) with out uploading thet image into wikipeida. ?

thanks Selavaraj 07:23, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Venu, i removed the content as Mr.kannambadi, Mr.Naveenbm and u were reverting my valid edits without reason. Since u have informed me about it,u too plz take note of it and also ask Mr.kannambadi to stop vandalising.
I have not quoted 'Bhosale vansha charita, Mr.Dbkasar has. If u want any details of my books plz do ask. Sarvabhaum 09:04, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will u act now?

Mr.Kannambadi, the self confessed history expert is removing even the English content at chalukya and rashtrakutas. Can u plz ask him to stop his vandalism and removing content. What does he think of himself,is he the new rule maker to decide that Marathi books should not be quoted? Why is he having hatred towards other languages? It seems ur a Tamizhan it will be nice if u see this. Can we expect the seniors to act in a responsible way? Narek removing my sources, yet using same sources??

User:Nareklm is using the same site for "source" , yet he purposely removed my same source (same site armenainhighland.com images) with "no source" so you can remove it. Please check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Tigranmetscoin.jpg ,this is the same site armenainhighland.com source. Yet he removed my images from the "same site" "same source" Ararat_arev

The source I also had put in "File History" please check at the bottom of the images

Here are my images I uploaded from same site as Nareklm uploaded Tigranmetscoin.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nkar3.jpg and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hurrian-AncientArmenian.jpg 75.4.200.127 03:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look at this in the article talk page. You must first understand that WP articles are not owned by anyone. It is a community project and anyone can edit and change the articles. Please see the guide to Wikipedia for more information on the nature of the project and the guideline. If an editor wants to change anything in the article, they will go ahead and do it. Don't expect them to email the changes to you!!

Happy editing - Parthi 06:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

???? Now look at the page - its completely gone. I am a Tamil, born and raised 2nd gen in Britain. I find it somewhat odd, that after all you said from the above depicted text, there is no page left now. Please try and understand, I hold a neutral position on Tamil gangs. I do not believe they are bad nor good. Along the way the article was defaced and the sources removed. I am so saddened by this, it seems I was the only one restoring the original document apart from the wiki bot. Now I read your words carefully. I did not claim that one could not e-mail me, nor did I expect anyone to not be able to add or edit it. But it seems to me that many Tamil members take great offense to an article I wrote and authored originally. There are articles on black gangs, white gangs, indian gangs, cuban gangs etc.. I saw it fit to explain about Tamil gangs. I do not know of your age, but you for one may not know what it is like to grow up in a country and feel racially oppressed. I take it that you saw the Big Brother Frenzy with Jade Goody and Shilpa. Well that is just a small taste of what reality is here. Many of these Tamil gangs protected Tamils as well as terrorized others. I deem it somewhat irrisponsible for those as such as yourself to continiously delete words with no substance to reasoning for such acts in the first place. I therefore implore you to review your work, and to help me restore the article. If you want research Tamil Gangs yourself in google and see what you come up with. What I had put was a toned down version of what is really out there. If someone wants to do Sinhalese gangs, then let them. But I want a Tamil Gang page to enlighten the public at large.

For instance when a racist thug was battered with a baseball bat in croydon, he may deem it necessary to look up the words 'tamil gangs' and know what he is dealing with before he attempts his racist revenge. Alternatively someone who is being intimidated by Tamil Gangs may need to know what they are dealing with so that they can inform the police to stop it getting worse.

We need to do something about this. It has gone on for too long. Can a religion be created by creating it on wikipedia? We all know that you know who is wrong and yet we have been unable to do anything to stop him. It is a blatant misuse of what wikipedia should be and I am disgusted by it. --Blacksun 22:47, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surprise

A long overdue barnstar for our star vandal-buster. Your intrepidity in tackling trolls, spamsters and POV pushers needs to be appreciated, it serves Wikipedia well. It is rarely that an FA-producing editor proves capable of this. Keep up the good work on both fronts, and give us some more FA's on Tamil history! Show me the mediation or arbitration outcome and I will be glad to comply. Otherwise, I always support the underdog, especially where mass removal of information is involved. :-) IPSOS (talk) 02:26, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blindly rooting for the underdog might work in sports - I am not sure about its place in Wikipedia though. --Blacksun 02:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, Parthi please look at Tamil people talk page. I cannot believe you let this one slip by. :P --Blacksun 02:47, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not blind, I see citations. Being a follower of a minority religion myself, I understand that it is the adherents who determine whether it is a religion or not, not some encyclopedia editor, government, or other critic. IPSOS (talk) 02:49, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's not your decision. I'm disturbed that you speak of it as if it is. Please take it to mediation and/or arbitration. You can't expect other editors to simply take your word for it. If it is actually fabricated, you'll need a decision that you can point to if you expect a consistent outcome. I'll be watching for such a decision, the process of getting there should make for great entertainment. :-) IPSOS (talk) 05:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen a lot of people make a lot of arguments on Wikipedia. My observation is that the most insistent are frequently wrong. You have yet to convince me of anything, and I'd prefer it if you didn't try. I'll not revert an article more than once a day. I find it interesting to see how many others might also be opposed to you. IPSOS (talk) 05:42, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Really, if the situation is as you say, you should request arbitration. Then both sides of the dispute can present their arguments, a decision would be made by neutral parties, and the winner(s) could point to the decision. While I'm sure it's hell to get involved in Arb, it the long run it is probably less disruptive. IPSOS (talk) 05:46, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note. Dinamani article on Ayyavazhi to be viewed by logging in to Dinamani page. Paul told that he would provide few more credible evidences from Local Tamilnadu news papers to prove that Ayyavazhi is a separate religion. Let him provide it. I am also from south Tamilnadu but I came to know about Ayyavazhi religion only through wiki. But I knew that there are set of people called Ayyavazhi sect. Let us evaluate his evidences without bias.--Indianstar 15:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanjore Nayaks

Hi, I would like to know why so many unknown tags in the discussion pages of Tanjore Nayaks.--Southernstar 15:49, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article says "There has been no contemporary archaeological or scientific evidence found to substantiate whether these academies existed at all and if so, the dates, the participants or their works."

The article again says "Claims of the Sangams and the description of sunken land masses have been dismissed by the historian and scientific community at large[11]". when I clicked the link it said page not found.

I) Take a look at these below on more news about Sangam. I am planning to add some of these links as archaeological proofs for sangam period / Age.

II) I am planning to add more info to Sangam legends. Any way I will discuss about it with you before making any changes.

Kaveri dispute
