People Nation is an alliance of street gangs based out of the Chicago area. They are rivals to the Folk Nation.

List of gangs in The People's Nation alliance

History

The "People" were formed much in the same way as the Folks. To combat the recent alignment in the year of 78, the El Rukns (now Black P. Stones), Vice Lords formed an alliance of their own, and titled it the "People". The similarity in meaning between the terms "People" and "Folks" is not coincidental. Jeff Fort of the Rukns, Bobby Gore of the Vice Lords, and Gustavo Colon of the Kings were very instrumental in the forming on this alliance. Among initial members to the People were the Mickey Cobras (then Cobra Stones), Latin Counts, Bishops, Insane Unknowns, and Spanish Lords. Many of the African American People gangs adopted an Islamic religious doctrine, while many Latin gangs in the People alliance adopted a Christian one. The People gangs also adopted the 5 point Star, which is a symbol of Islam (along with the crescent moon). As the same with many of the gangs of the Folks Nation there is inter-alliance wars and many renegade factions have formed within the People gangs. The UBN or the Bloods from New York also claim a affiliation to the People Nation, as they claim to have signed a charter to take a place there, though this is still largely disputed.

Symbolism

Symbols used by the People Nation include a five pointed star. People gangs identify to the left, with hats tilted or "broke" to the left, left pants leg up, etc. This is in contrast to Folks Nation gangs which use the six pointed star and wear clothing on the right side of their body. People Nation Gangs use the term "All Is Well" while Folks gangs say "All As One." Each gang within the alliance has its own separate symbols, colors, and handsigns.
