"Denial" is the twenty-first single by the British girl group Sugababes, and the third and final to be taken from their fifth studio album Change.[1] The Sun confirmed on 5 December 2007 that this was the next single to be released from the album. Fans did not believe this was true due to the fact that another song from the album "My Love Is Pink" was sent to radio stations and added to music download sites such as 7digital and iTunes. [2] Keisha Buchanan confirmed in an upclose gig on the 13 December that "Denial" would be the third single. A video of where she announced it can be seen here. [3]. The release marks a milestone in the bands career as it is the groups 21st single in under 8 years.[4] The B-Side to "Denial" is set to be their cover of the Plain White T's "Hey There Delilah".
In Germany "Denial" is the official title song used for the Sugababes Starcollection at Deichmann, that sell shoes created and presented by the Sugababes.[5]
On the 7th March, Denial was officially released on iTunes and is now available for digital download. On the 8th March, the Sugababes gave a performance live on ITV's Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, and on the 19th March they performed the single on GMTV.
Music video
The video was shot by Harvey B-Brown who is known for working with Scissor Sisters and George Michael. In the upclose gig the babes stated that the video was one of their favourites to shoot. They also stated that it was inspired by Vogue.
The video was premiered exclusively on the Sugababes' official website on 8 January 2008. Only a few hours after it's premiere, the video for "Denial" was uploaded to popular-video sharing website YouTube. On 29 January 2008, websites posted photos of the babes in the video saying that they had gone for a more grown-up look and were finally starting to look more like women than girls. The concept of the video is the Sugababes in a photo shoot wearing various clothing. On the surface, the video has no relation to the lyrics other than certain objects such as 'mirror' and 'water' being used on screen at the same time as the corresponding lyric, but in actuality goes along with the idea of someone being in denial and "dressing up" to hide the truth. The video premiered on Channel 4's Freshly Squeezed, on 9 February 2008, and only a day after, "Denial" started to dominate music channels such as The Box and The Hits on 10 February 2008.

"Denial" was moderately successful, making its debut on the UK Singles Chart at number sixty-four on 2 March 2008, due to downloads from their album "Change". A week later, "Denial" climbed thirty places to number thirty-four. Upon physical release, the song managed a peak of #15 in the UK Singles Chart.
In the Irish Singles Chart, "Denial" debuted at number fifty, on chart dated 7 March 2008. The following week, "Denial" climbed from number fifty to number twenty nine. It peaked at number eighteen on 20 March 2008 upon physical single release.
