This is a list of robotic characters from the television, video game, and comic-book series Transformers Animated.

Autobots

  • Optimus Prime (David Kaye)[1][2]: The rookie de-facto leader of the Autobots on Earth, transforms into a futuristic fire truck, and wields a rocket-powered Energon axe, as well as grappling hooks, bolas, and a fire-dousing foam. Like the 2007 movie Prime, and Cybertron Optimus Prime, he has a retractable mouthplate for battle mode purposes. Though he washed out of Autobot Academy[3] and is a little green about being a leader.
  • Bumblebee (Bumper Robinson) [1][2]: The youngest member of the group, ever eager and enthusiastic, occasionally to the point of overconfidence. He has a retractable battle mask and transforms into a yellow car similar to his Transformers Classics version. His best friends are Bulkhead and the human Sari, having been the first Autobot to meet her after saving her upon being reawakened, [3], continuing the tradition of Bumblebee being the designated human "guardian" figure. Priding himself on his speed, he occasionally sports turbo boosters, and produces electric stingers from his hands. He also proved to be too much of a big city bot, as shown in "Nature Calls". He is sensitive about his size, as shown in "Total Meltdown", but learns to appreciate his other qualities.
  • Ratchet (Corey Burton)[4]: A seasoned Autobot medic and veteran of the war against the Decepticons. Gruff, protective and occasionally weary of the relative youngsters he is stationed with, his personality is very similar to that of G1 Kup. He is originally very short-tempered and grumpy, but he eventually learns to be patient and tolerate his fellow Autobots and the humans, and develops a friendship with Sari. As usual, he transforms into an Ambulance, [3], and fights using a multi-purpose electro-magnetic field generator. He was formerly equipped with an EMP projector which was stolen during the great war while trying to help Arcee. In the episode "Thrill of the Hunt", he stole it back from Lockdown.
  • Bulkhead (Bill Fagerbakke)[1][2]: Bulkhead is a gentle giant of an Autobot who transforms into a Green SWAT truck. Despite his size and intimidating appearance, he is the most laid-back and unassuming Autobot in personality and demeanor. Wielding two wrecking balls concealed in his hands, he is also the team's demolition specialist, a job to which he is somewhat suited due to his natural clumsiness. In the episode 'A Bridge Too Close, Part 1' it was revealed that Bulkhead is the greatest expert on space bridge technology in all of Cybertron.
  • Prowl (Jeff Bennett)[1][2]: A lone wolf ninja-style Autobot, and a master of the Cybertronian art of Circuit-Su, who initially rejects teamwork and prefers to act on his own. However, he gradually learns to co-operate with and respect his Autobot teammates, his individualist approach to both combat and life in general remains a slight source of friction between himself and his more outgoing comrades. Prowl is fascinated by organic life, and enjoys spending time in nature. He has a sharp, caustic sense of humor and often makes jokes at others' expense, though with no real malice. His alt-mode is a futuristic Motorcycle [3], and in battle he relies on shurikens that double up as stabbing weapons, as well as a diversionary hologram generator. He is also very quick and agile, and utilizes his acrobatic skills in battle. Like the G1 character Hound, his vehicle mode has an open cockpit, so he sometimes projects a holographic "driver" onto his seat, to blend in with traffic better.
  • Ultra Magnus (Jeff Bennett)[1][2]: Autobot Supreme Commander and member of the Cybertron Elite Guard. He and the Cybertron Elite Guard came to Earth to look for the Allspark. After a fragment of the Allspark was found, Ultra Magnus started to believe Optimus Prime's story. He transforms into a Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck and wields a hammer capable of calling down lightning.
  • Sentinel Prime[5] (Townsend Coleman): A hot-headed and swaggering Autobot Officer and member of the Cybertron Elite Guard, who shares a mutual enmity with Optimus Prime, stemming from a botched joint expedition in the past. He despises robots who are of a lower rank than him. He wields an Energon shield and lance. His Cybertronian alt-mode is a truck. On Earth, he takes the disguise of a snowplow truck. Along with having a problem with Optimus, he also has a fear of organics (see Spider Aliens) [6]. It was later revealed in "Autoboot Camp" that he was a drill instructor and went by Sentinel Minor during Bumblebee's flashback.
  • Jazz (Phil LaMarr)[1][2]: One of the Autobots with a sports car alt-mode. He is the second-in-command of the Cybertron Elite Guard and a skilled ninja, wielding nunchuks with great skill. Jazz is fascinated with Earth's culture and is the most easy-going member of the Elite Guard.
  • Blurr (John Moschitta, Jr.)[2]: A mysterious blue racing car in "Velocity" that can best Bumblebee in speed even with his turbo boosters. It is suspected to be a Decepticon by Bumblebee, but is found to be actually controlled by Master Disaster with an All-Spark fragment remote control to fix his races. At the time, it was not known whether there was a driver driving the car, but when the Blue Racer was free from Master Disaster’s control, it helped stop Blitzwing’s pursuit of Bumblebee and Sari. In "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 1, Blurr takes on his robot form for the first time when it came to rescuing Bulkhead. Upon this discovery by Bumblebee and the other Autobots on Earth, Blurr reveals himself to be a member of the Cybertron Elite Guard's who was sent to keep an eye on them and monitor Megatron's activities. He was eventually sucked into the Decepticon spacebridge with Skywarp and Thundercracker (two of Starscream's clones).
  • Wreck-Gar ("Weird Al" Yankovic)[2]: Created from a pile of junk from an Allspark fragment in the episode "Garbage in, Garbage out", Wreck-Gar was confused who and what he was. He got his name from the Angry Archer. With the help of Ratchet, he realized he could be anything he wanted, and ended up saving Detroit from malfunctioning nanobots though seemingly at the cost of his own life. He was last seen half-buried at the bottom of a river, asking fish to help him out. His truck and robot forms resemble the Junkions from the 1980s Transformers movie along with a reference to a song from the movie entitled "Dare To Be Stupid" as well as saying the universal greeting which helped the Autobots ally with the Junkions in the 1980s Transformers movie. His only power is the ability to pull virtually anything from the garbage bin on his back, like tools and spools, to autobot and decepticon symbols to put place on his chest.
  • Ironhide (Corey Burton): He is briefly seen in the episode "Mission Accomplished" reporting to Ultra Magnus about a Decepticon uprising. His face greatly resembles his G1 counterpart. In "Autoboot Camp," he shows his ability to cover his body with a thick metallic layer. In Cartoon Network's Transformers Animated mini-game, he was mistakenly listed as a Decepticon.
  • Arcee (Susan Blu)[1][2]: Her robot mode is very similar in design to her G1 counterpart. In Ratchet's flashback, an E.M.P. conflict between him and Lockdown caused her to lose all of her memory.
  • Elita One: See Blackarachnia
  • Longarm Prime[7] (Corey Burton): Current Head of Cybertronian Intelligence. He first appeared in the episode "Autoboot Camp", being in the same group as Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ironhide, and Wasp. He helped Bumblebee expose Wasp as a traitor. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that he is actually the Decepticon Shockwave in disguise. While in boot camp, Longarm got his name after showing Sentinel Minor that he has extendo-limbs. His alt-mode is a futuristic rough terrain crane truck.
  • Omega Supreme (Kevin Michael Richardson)[8]: He is the robot form of the Autobot's spaceship. In the pilot mini-movie, Optimus Prime failed to activate an "Omega Defence System" (due to a safety measure to conserve Energon), which was probably a trigger to his transformation. He makes his first appearance in the season two finale, having fought off the clones of Starscream using a huge array of weapons and attacks. He was last shown sacrificing himself to destroy Megatron's space bridge, but is scheduled to return.
  • Cliffjumper: A red Autobot with a protoform similar to Bumblebee, but with a thicker head and longer horns. He appeared in "Autoboot Camp" as Sentinel's friend and he later took Wasp to jail.[9]
  • Jetfire and Jetstorm: Autobot twins that possess power over fire and ice. They can combine in both robot and vehicle mode into Safeguard. In vehicle mode, they take the form of futuristic space-fighters, and in combined mode they resemble an X-wing fighter.

Originally animatronic dinosaurs from a local Dino-Drive theme park, they were repaired by Professor Sumdac, with Megatron offering aid in an attempt to create a drone army via reverse technology, able to breathe fire. However, Sari's key affected the Dinobots during their initial rampage, making them actual Transformers with developing minds of their own. However, though beyond his control, Megatron did manage to have them bent on destroying the Autobots. They have reappeared in "Survival of the Fittest" where Prometheus Black forced them into capturing Sari for his experiments. They also had a small cameo in "Megatron Rising" Pt. 1 where Prowl asked them for help against the Decepticon army, and again in "The Elite Guard", where they attacked Sentinel Prime for trespassing on their island, only to be frightened off by Ultra Magnus. The three are very prominent in the episode "Black Friday", having rescued Blackarachnia. All three had something of a crush on Blackarachnia, until Optimus Prime pointed out that she was only using them, and that when they were of no use to her she would "drop them like a used engine block". Among the featured Dinobots are:

  • Grimlock (David Kaye) [1][2]: Leader of the Dinobots, transforms into a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and wields a sword engulfed in flames. He can also fire flames from his mouth.
  • Snarl: Member of the Dinobots. Transforms into a Triceratops; wields a club. Like Grimlock, he has fire breath and his horns can fire a tri-laser. Despite the name, he primarily resembles the Generation 1 Dinobot Slag.
  • Swoop: Member of the Dinobots. Transforms into a Pteranodon, wields a flail engulfed in flame and has a sonic scream that can short out audio sensors.

Decepticons

  • Megatron (Corey Burton)[1][2]: The cold, calculating, and manipulative leader of the Decepticons, who transforms into a Cybertronian Fusion Jet Fighter, and later a tiltrotor gunship similar to a V-22 Osprey. Megatron's presence in the show is, at least to begin with, relatively marginal, after a skirmish with the Autobots over the Allspark in the pilot episode leaves him all but destroyed. His disembodied head, however, is recovered and sustained by the inventor Isaac Sumdac in his private lab, where, through subtle manipulation of Sumdac and his technology, Megatron is able to persist covertly with his schemes, all the while working towards the creation of a new body of his own, until his old body was recovered and Sari's key allowed Megatron to be fully revived. In keeping with tradition, Megatron's primary weapon remains his arm-mounted fusion cannon; however, he now also wields twin swords, which in his Earth mode transform from his rotors. In the season 2 finale, he was sucked into the space bridge which, according to Shockwave, could have transported him anywhere.
  • Starscream (Tom Kenny)[1][2][10]: Much in the spirit of his G1 counterpart, Starscream is a sarcastic, treacherous and two-faced usurper, who desires to be the leader of the Decepticons by overthrowing Megatron. However, his attempt ultimately backfired. As with all previous incarnations of the character, he transforms into a fighter jet, armed with his signature null-rays. He was badly hurt in "Megatron Rising" by Megatron, who had learned of Starscream's treachery. He has since become immortal due to a piece of the Allspark imbedded in his head. He ended up in the custody of the Elite Guard, but escapes. He is then shown to have made many clones of himself that fooled the Autobots, the Decepticons, and Lockdown. He and his clones later attacked the Decepticon's base only for Starscream to be beheaded upon the discovery of the Allspark fragment in his head and later used to power Megatron's space bridge. His head and Megatron were eventually sucked into the Decepticon Space Bridge where both of them argued after being sucked in.
    • Skywarp[11](Tom Kenny): A clone of Starscream who embodies his cowardice; he is afraid of practically everything, even though he's quite powerful. During the first battle of the episode "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 2, he fell into the Decepticon Space Bridge with Thundercracker and Blurr. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
    • Thundercracker[12] (Tom Kenny): A clone of Starscream who embodies his egomania; he is always boasting and extolling his own virtues, even while losing.During the first battle of the episode "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 2, he fell into the Decepticon Space Bridge with Skywarp and Blurr. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
    • Sycophant Starscream clone (Tom Kenny): A clone of Starscream who embodies his sycophantism; he constantly flatters and praises everyone around him, even his enemies. After Starscream's defeat in "A Bridge Too Close Part 2", he eventually chooses to ally himself with Megatron before being taken down by Omega Supreme. His color scheme is based on Sunstorm
    • Liar Starscream clone (Tom Kenny): A clone of Starscream who embodies his dishonesty; he is continuously spouting lies, often ones that are clearly false and fail to deceive anyone. He sides with Megatron after Starscream's defeat before being kicked away by Omega Supreme in the "A Bridge Too Close" finale. His color scheme is based on Ramjet
    • Female Starscream clone (Tara Strong): The fifth and final clone of Starscream, she embodies his self-loathing; she is constantly insulting Starscream, even when he agrees with her. She instantly sides with Megatron after Starscream is defeated and leads the attack on Omega Supreme. Her current status is unknown. Her color scheme is based on Overlord
  • Blitzwing (Bumper Robinson)[13]: One of Megatron's loyal troops, Blitzwing is an unstable, teutonically-accented Triple Changer (Tank, Jet, Robot) with a new spin— a split personality and changing faces to match his personalities. His personalities define his powers, and includes a cool, sneering face with a dismissive, superior attitude and ice beams; a belligerent, aggressive face that deals in threats and flame-blasts, and finally, a crazed Jack-o-Lantern-esque face - almost child-like in its psychotic exuberance - which utilizes laser pellet blasts (though, in the episode "Sari, No One's Home", he showed that he was able to use all three of his attacks while his insane face was in control). The conflict of these personalities is the source of much comic relief throughout the show. They are represented by a spinning face gimmick on the toy as well as in the show, similar to past Transformers characters the Quintessons and Alpha Q, as well as the He-Man character Man-E-Faces. [3]
  • Lugnut (David Kaye)[1][2]: A hulking brute of a Decepticon whose immense physical strength is matched only by his near-fanatical devotion to Megatron and his cause. Lugnut has missiles for hands, and the alt-mode of a futuristic bomber jet. Until the episode "Megatron Rising Part 1", he was the only Decepticon that Megatron had made contact with upon arrival. He, along with Blitzwing was defeated in their battle to stop Omega Supreme. Whether he is still on Earth or not is not known.
  • Blackarachnia (Cree Summer)[1][2]: Her alt-mode is a black-purple techno-organic spider [3]. Once a promising young Autobot Academy recruit named Elita One, a former friend of Optimus Prime and Sentinel Prime until a horrific event led to her becoming a techno-organic being with a hatred for Optimus and desire to return to normal by any means. In keeping with her hybrid nature, her arsenal combines organic venom-tipped paralyzing fangs with her in-built robotic ability to temporarily download and mimic the abilities of others. She attempted to use Sari's key to fix this, but this failed. She had the Dinobots break Meltdown out of prison, to help her remove her organic half. However, instead of removing her organic half, Meltdown attempted to remove her technological side. This was prevented by Optimus Prime and the Dinobots.
  • Lockdown (Lance Henriksen)[14]: He may not be a Decepticon (except in the toyline), but he is a deeply mercenary and cruelly sardonic rogue bounty hunter-for-hire who only aids the Decepticons in return for spare parts to upgrade himself. As such, he is referred to as "a disgrace to the glorious name of the Decepticons" by Lugnut in the Season One episode "Lost and Found", which suggests that was his original purpose despite his current mercenary ways. His alt-mode is a muscle-car combination of a 1980s style black Corvette and 1960s Cougar hybrid design with a Supercharger, and wields a vast arsenal of weapons and upgrades stolen from past victims. Ratchet fought him during the Cybertronian War with the result of Arcee losing her memory. Ratchet fought him again when he captured Optimus Prime, but Ratchet defeated him. Lockdown returns when Megatron offers a bounty on Starscream's head.
  • Soundwave (Jeff Bennett)[15]: A cold, emotionless Decepticon who desires the overthrow of all organic life at the hands of machines, who he holds as being logically superior. He has the same heavily mechanized monotone voice as the original G1 version. Though he eventually takes the alt-mode of a vehicle similar to a Scion xB, he was originally designed by Megatron to be disguised as a musical toy, and as such, his powers are based around sound and music generators, which enable him to control and manipulate other machines. Though Bulkhead dismantled him, Soundwave survived as a miniature media player. Whether he will return or not is unknown.
  • Swindle (Fred Willard)[16]: An intergalactic arms dealer, he is armed with a cannon on his right arm, as well as a forcefield generator. He came to earth and allied himself with the Society of Ultimate Villainy, stringing them along to get his hands on an Allspark fragment, which he used to power a weapon that froze all machinery in Detroit. He ended up frozen in vehicle mode after Bumblebee deflected a chronal energy attack back at him. While his fate is unknown, Captain Fanzone mentioned he would be stripped and sold on a police auction. His alt mode is that of a more futuristic Hummer.
  • Shockwave (Corey Burton)[17]: A shape-shifting Transformer who posed as Longarm Prime. He is the loyal Second in Command of the Decepticons. He seemingly orchestrated Wasp's imprisonment and recent breakout. As of "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 2, Bumblebee now knows that Shockwave has been posing as Longarm Prime when Shockwave contacts Megatron and that Shockwave had framed Wasp all along. His alt-mode is that of a futuristic tank.
  • Wasp (Tom Kenny): A former Autobot who was seemingly framed as a double agent by Shockwave (posing as Longarm). He is built from the same protoform mold as Bumblebee, but hates him because he believes Bumblebee is responsible for framing him for being a Decepticon spy. He escaped from prison, and is currently unaffiliated, lost in space, and insane. As of "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 2, Bumblebee is now aware that Shockwave had framed Wasp. While it has not yet appeared in any fiction, Wasp's toy shows that he obtains a seemingly techno-organic wasp mode.Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).[2]: He transforms into a futuristic excavator. He got his name after reading a billboard sign that read scrap and Mixmaster told him that was too short, so it was changed to Scrapper. He has the ability to activate drill weapons, located in his wrists.
  • Mixmaster (Jeff Bennett): He transforms into a futuristic construction vehicle which looks to be a cross between a bulldozer and cement mixer; he got his name after Scrapper told him his mixing barrel had the words Mix Master on it but he thought it was too long so he changed it to Mix, even though later in the episode Bulkhead used the name Mixmaster. In the episode "Sari, No One's Home", he is shown to have the ability to spray acid from his mixing barrel. In "A Bridge Too Close" Pt. 1, he is shown to have the ability to shoot cement from the mixing barrels on his hands.

Other Transformers

These are Transformers that are either non-affiliated, or have been confirmed but have not yet appeared in-fiction.

  • Blackout: A new Decepticon for season 3. It closely resembles its movie counterpart.[18]
  • Spittor: A new Autobot for season 3. It's design is based on Don Figueroa's pre-beast form for Beast Wars Spittor.[18]
  • Strika: A new Decepticon for season 3. It closely resembles its Beast Machines counterpart.[18]
  • Beachcomber: Originally planned to have a major role as an Autobot in Season 3, time restrictions caused his speaking roles to be removed. Derick Wyatt has stated that he may still appear in a non-speaking cameo role.[19]
  • Dirge: A toy-only recolor of Starscream. There is currently no info on whether he is a clone of Starscream, or merely another Seeker.[20][21]

Earth Robots

This is a list of known robots on Earth:

  • Sparkplug: Sparkplug is Sari Sumdac's robot dog given to her by Dr. Isaac Sumdac, her father, for her 7th birthday. After Isaac ended up in the clutches of Megatron, it is currently in the possession of Porter C. Powell and was last seen outfitted with Henry Masterson's Headmaster program.
  • Tutorbot (Tom Kenny): A robot who is in charge of taking care of and educating Sari Sumdac. After Isaac ended up in the clutches of Megatron, he is currently in the possession of Porter C. Powell and was last seen outfitted with Henry Masterson's Headmaster program.
  • Security-Bots: Robots used by the Detroit Police Department. They appear in several episodes, usually chasing villains. Usually the villan eludes the robots, as the Security-Bot is neither agile, or particularly smart.
  • Reception-Bot: These robots work as receptionists in Sumdac Tower.
  • Burger-Bot: These robots are designed to serve food at a chain of "burger-bot" fast food restaurants.
  • Condiment-Bot: These robots are designed to various condiments and napkins.
  • Newsbots (David Kaye and Townsend Coleman): They are an assortment of robots of the news who are equipped with four arms (one arm has a camera, the second arm has a microphone, the third arm has a pencil or pen and the final arm has a notebook). They report the news in several episodes.
  • Trashbots: These robots simply roll around and collect garbage. They were also used for dancing.
  • Microbots: They eat anything that isn't an organic. They were meant to fight disease in episode 1 until a robotic bug infused with it went out of control and was defeated by the Autobots. In episode 20, they were upgraded to eat anything that isn't an organic as Porter C. Powell's alternate solution to Detroit's garbage crisis.
