In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to :meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, review the recent Wikipedia Day NYC, plan for the next stages of projects like Wikipedia at the Library and Lights Camera Wiki, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects, for example User:ScienceApologist will present on "climate change, alternative medicine, UFOs and Transcendental Meditation" (see the November meeting's minutes).

In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back. And if the weather is good, we'll have a star party with the telescopes on the roof of Pupin Hall!

You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at list.

To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.
This has been an automated delivery by BrownBot (talk) 15:24, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Welcome to my user talk page!

Please do all of the following:
 • Always link to the text, image, or edit you want to discuss. When linking to an image, use a colon. For example, ":Image:Example.jpg" produces "Image:Example.jpg".
 • Don't forget to provide a proper Edit Summary for each and every edit, and a proper signature for each and every post to a talk page or notice board. I may revert edits that do not have such features, rather than respond to them.
 • Reply to interactive messages at the location of the original topic to not scatter talk all around, fracturing the discussion. I do have nearly all pages I have posted to recently on my Watchlist. If I missed a comment, please use Talkback to drop me a short reminder with a link here.
 • Respect my babel boxes.
 • If you're copying files from another project to Wikimedia Commons, be sure to use the CommonsHelper.
 • If your text or image is lacking source, license, or permission, fix that instead of asking here what is wrong. There should be a message on your talk page explaining things in detail. Apologies for having to be so clear if this message is not related to the matter you would like to address.
 • Post here if you want to reach me, or reply to a post below via the edit link above that post.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

re: March 2010

Why don't you first tell me which image this is about, because I have no idea what you're talking about. Disruptive and inapproptiate uploads? Calamity-Ace (talk)

edit: If it was about the Elmer Fudd image, I edited the file description, please check it out and please tell me if there's still something wrong with it. Other than that, please don't scare me like that anymore, I'm not a Wikipedia vandalist!

Thank you for the additional information about the Elmer Fudd image. I added some explanation on your user talk page. — Jeff G. ツ 04:45, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of a request at ADCO/RFC

If you remove a request because it is longer than 6 momths since the requester's last visit, there is a template you can use: It automatically adds you signature, by the way!

The results are like this:

I acknowledge the message above, and hope that it gets archived in due course. — Jeff G. ツ 18:16, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About your Admin Coaching request

User talk

Your submission at Admin Coaching has been removed from the request list, as requests where the submitter has not visited the page for at least 6 months (or been inactive for at least 4 months) are removed.

You are welcome to re-submit a request should you wish to, but please note that you are expected to regularly check the page (and to update the "last visited" field of your request) to show your continued interest in the project. If you do re-submit, please carefully re-read the instructions for submission as they may have changed since you last visited!

As noted on the project page, there is an on-going backlog with the project, as so few admins are currently coaching. This means that you may have a long wait for a response (if you receive one at all).

If you no longer require admin coaching, I hope that you continue to enjoy editing Wikipedia!

Regards, -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 16:16, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the input, Steve. Please consider adding a reference to that template on the WP:ADCO page. — Jeff G. ツ 18:15, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a reference to it on the WP:ADCO/RFC page. Incidently, your reply to the previous message will ensure that the thread will be archived, as archiving goes by the last date in the thread! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 18:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. — Jeff G. ツ 18:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that it appears you made significant contributions to File:Pacific Bell logo 1984-2000.png or one of it's predecessors and that it has now been made into a vector graphic at File:Pacific Bell.svg when working with this logo please remember to use the SVG where it is superior, Thanks Koman90 (talk), Network+ (Verify) 18:11, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the notice, but I don't think that your first uploaded SVG version is superior because the wording is in black rather than the greyish in the PNG versions, and therefore it is not a direct replacement. I started with the sourceless File:Pacific bell logo.png. Do you have a source for any of these images that supports either black or greyish? — Jeff G. ツ 02:33, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I can go back and change the color to grey, i just need a HEX code or pattone number to change it, or the HUE SAT LUM combination defined by the older pacbell logo standards if you don't have a specific grey you want i can just change the font to grey, since ti is a vector all i have to do is change the ill color on the layer that the text is on it will take me all of about 30 seconds. Koman90 (talk), Network+ (Verify) 03:02, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
if i don't get a response i'll just put a generic grey there, however mos pacbell logos ive seen are black text at lease in the later 90s prior to the sbc buyout they wereKoman90 (talk), Network+ (Verify) 22:47, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have not been in the PacBell service area since PacBell was created, so I have no firsthand knowledge of PacBell logos. The gray in File:Pacific bell logo.png appears to be hex 969696 and H 0 S 0 V 58 (not HSL per HSL and HSV) per Paint.NET 3.5.4. It would be really nice if we could actually find a verifiable reliable source for these images. — Jeff G. ツ 04:21, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I found a verifiable source for gray at http://www.tinlin.net/jim/email/pacbell.jpg , but it's an alleged photo of a PacBell billboard that was circulated by email. I also found a verifiable source for black at http://www.mobilexhibit.com/archive/Pacbell.jpg , but it's an alleged photo of a display created by Mobilexhibit for their client PacBell. It may be that the gray changed to black before SBC started slapping their logo on the right side, but that's pure speculation. — Jeff G. ツ 05:18, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm changing the logo to have grey text if you know for shure it was grey, i used a 50% grey on th CMYK color scale so let me know if it needs to be darker or lighter so i can adjust accordingly. Thanks Koman90 (talk), Network+ (Verify) 00:43, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, thanks! — Jeff G. ツ 01:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Turki Faisal Al-Rasheed

Re your message: I deleted Talk:Turki Faisal Rasheed due to WP:CSD#G8, which wouldn't apply to Turki Faisal Al-Rasheed. It having the same content isn't grounds for speedy deletion either. Even though the article has been deleted through various means multiple times, WP:CSD#G4 wouldn't apply because it appears to have never gone through an AfD. So, I recommend starting an AfD for the article and see how that goes. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:28, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again! You can find the AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turki Faisal Al-Rasheed. — Jeff G. ツ 11:54, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
