The All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie Championship is the most important competition in the women’s field sport of camogie for second-rank counties and for second-string teams of first-rank counties. If the winning team comes from a second-rank county, that county is promoted to the following year's senior championship. Similarly, the winner of the All-Ireland junior championship is promoted to the following year's Intermediate Championship. The grade equates with Division 2 of the National Camogie League. The 2010 final will be played in Croke Park for the first time alongside the Senior and Junior finals.[1] In the 2010 All Ireland semi-finals Offaly defeated Derry (2-12 to 1-13) and Wexford defeated Limerick (1-9 to 0-10).[2]

History

The competition was inaugurated in 1992 as a competition with Corn Ui Phuirséil presented to the winners annually. After a short period when it was replaced by the All Ireland Senior B Championship, it was revived in 2008 and the Jack McGrath cup presented to the winners annually. The series of games, organised by the Camogie Association of Ireland, are played during the summer months with the All-Ireland Junior Camogie Final being played alongside the Senior Final on the second Sunday in September in Croke Park, Dublin. The current champions are Galway, who beat Cork in the replayed All-Ireland final of 2009. In the All Ireland semi-finals Galway beat Tipperary (0-16 to 0-7) and Cork beat Derry (4-10 to 0-18).
