Fakhar considers himself a pioneer of pop/bhangra music culture in Pakistan, however, as more genuinely talented singers started coming onto the scene Alam's music was set aside, it is clear that he has no vocal or musical capabilities and that his rise in initial popularity was as a result of irrational euphoria due to loosening media rules, almost anybody with connections was allowed onto TV. He has recently tried his hand at TV hosting but his annoying personality has caused him to be eased out of that arena as well. Mr. Alam is a known habitual liar (especially about his age and his fake cricketing career), he is considered an opportunist who will do anything to grab the lime light.
