On 9th November 2010, it was reported that Mr Cinis was arrested for possession and cultivation of cannabis. The Police also alleged a Supply Charge which was fought by Mr Cinis and won as police had been proved to exaggerate the amount Mr Cinis actually had in his possession (from the actual amount in his possession of 40 grams to 328grams). Confirmed by a Police Lab Report that was delayed until after the NSW State Election in 2011. The Supply Charges were withdraw by Police three months after it was proven that Mr Cinis did not qualify as a Supplier. News papers and the Media had a field day with Mr Cinis with false assertions that he worked with underprivileged children and made no reference to evidence given in Court. He had pleaded guilty to possession and cultivation and used cannabis as a sedative for stress. Mr Cinis had been attacked and bashed several times over the last decade, due to his public profile as an actor, also his work as a Greens Councillor. Mr Cinis also received Death Threats and was also receiving counselling for 'Post Stress Disorder' which was evidence given in his trial, but not reported by the media. For a first time drug offence Mr Cinis was dealt with quite harshly with an 18 month 'Supervised' Good Behaviour Bond. Mr Cinis was not given any community work as punishment as he already worked for the community in his role as Councillor at Leichhardt Municipal Council. He finished a successful term of Council with many wins under his belt for the Residents of Leichhardt.
